JOB TITLE: CAD Operator DEPARTMENT: Laser Cut Plus

The CAD Operator is responsible for supporting the steel rule die production department of Embossing Plus, a Print Finishing company located in Minneapolis. Duties, Expectations, Responsibilities, goals & milestones will be defined & established per individual.

Major Areas of Accountability/Key Result Areas

CAD Operator

• Create, prepare and edit customer files to be used for production of Steel Rule Dies & Prototype samples.
• Assemble production artwork & dielines from internal & external customers.
• Create design solutions using Cimex CimPACK CAD software.
• Cut samples utilizing a Gerber cutting system, assemble prototypes, troubleshoot designs and collaborate with other Designers.
• Collaborate with Creative, Project Managers and Prepress departments to identify and implement best practices for the development and editing of graphic art files and die-lines.
• Prepare accurate electronic templates and mockups that meet quality standards by using a combination of Adobe software and automated CAD cutting systems.
• Making copy change alterations to customer files.
• Establishes and adheres to timelines required for above tasks.

Additional Responsibilities

• Provide Customer Service via telephone, email and in-person.
• Through hands on training learn to provide quotes and estimates for steel rule dies.
• Provide back up for purchasing production supplies.
• Establishes and adheres to timelines required for above tasks.

Prerequisite Knowledge

• CAD software, Print Production or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Understanding the Graphic Design/Print Production/Prep process
• Understanding of print industry processes helpful.
• Understanding of 3-dimensional sketching and engineering drawings helpful

Prerequisite Skills

• Utilize CAD software for graphic layouts, understanding of CimPACK CAD a plus.
• Ability to communicate verbally, visually, and in writing
• Possesses intermediate level of Design skills and mechanical aptitude
• Generates solutions quickly, incorporates ideas from a team environment
• Effective interpersonal communication
• Effectively shifts between tasks

Pay: $20.19 - $23.27 per hour
