Design Engineering Technician / Cad Drafter

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Design Engineering Technician to join our engineering team. This role involves supporting mechanical design projects, creating detailed schematics, and assisting in the development and fabrication of engineering prototypes or existing drawings "reverse engineering". The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in CAD software, mechanical engineering principles, and manufacturing processes. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to innovative projects within a dynamic environment, utilizing a broad range of technical expertise including AutoCAD, SolidWorks and machining techniques. Creo & NX is a Plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and modify detailed mechanical designs using CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks. Creo and NX is a Plus.
• Create and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications in accordance with ASME codes & standards.
• Perform root cause analysis on mechanical issues and assist in troubleshooting equipment failures.
• Support project scheduling activities to ensure timely completion of engineering deliverables.
• Conduct precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments to verify component specifications.
• Apply mechanical knowledge to improve existing designs or develop new solutions aligned with project requirements.

Skills

• Proven experience with CAD drafting tools including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, NX and Schematics drawing.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, GD&T standards, ASME codes & standards, and manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, fabrication, and assembly.
• Hands-on experience with precision measuring instruments like calipers and micrometers; familiarity with soldering and equipment repair is a plus.
• Excellent project scheduling skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong math skills relevant to engineering calculations and design verification.
• Mechanical knowledge combined with practical experience in fabrication, maintenance, or manufacturing environments preferred.
