Substation Design & Studies Engineer

About The Role We are looking for a Substation Design & Studies Engineer who will specialize in design, engineering & technical studies

During Your Day, You Will

• Design substation general arrangements, layouts, sections and equipment arrangement drawings using CAD software and engineering tools
• Prepare Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) studies, preliminary and detailed engineering studies for electrical substations and associated electrical infrastructure
• Conduct electrical engineering studies, including grounding/earthing, lightning protection, cable sizing, voltage drop, short-circuit and load flow studies
• Design and engineering building electromechanical systems, including lighting, heating, ventilation and fire protection systems
• Prepare cable routing layouts, cable schedules and associated calculations, considering electrical, thermal, mechanical, installation and constructability requirements
• Prepare technical specifications and equipment requirements for electrical substation equipment and auxiliary systems
• Provide detailed technical reporting
• Engineering coordination and interface between electrical, civil, structural, mechanical and protection & automation engineers
• Owner's Engineering and technical consultancy services throughout project development
• Conduct on-site inspections, surveys and engineering assessments of existing and new substations, including verification of equipment, installations and as-built conditions
• Conduct power quality measurements using high-precision devices
• On-site test and commission HV primary equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, disconnectors, instrument transformers and other substation equipment

To Be a Fit, You Will Need

• Master’s degree in electrical engineering
• Experience of 2-3 years in a similar role
• Knowledge of power systems and electrical engineering principles
• Electrical drawings design and understanding
• Experience in HV/MV substation design and engineering
• Knowledge of substation layouts, sections, equipment arrangements and electrical infrastructure
• Knowledge of grounding/earthing and lightning protection systems
• Knowledge of building electromechanical systems, including lighting, HVAC, ventilation, heating and fire protection
• Knowledge of HV/MV substation equipment and auxiliary LV systems
• Knowledge of CAD software packages (e.g. AutoCAD)
• Familiarization with electrical engineering standards and regulations (IEC, EN, IEEE, etc.)
• Experience in preparing technical reports, specifications, calculations and proposals
• Communication and collaboration skills
• Adaptability to change
• Positive & can-do mentality
• Availability for on-site visits

What You Need To Stand Out

• Familiarization with substation construction, equipment installation and site erection activities
• Experience in testing and commissioning of HV primary substation equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, disconnectors and instrument transformer
