Inpatient Coder (CCS / CIC) - Remote

Role Title: Medical Coder (CCS / CIC)

Role Type: Contractor

Location: Remote

We are seeking certified Medical Coders to support an AI training project focused on inpatient medical coding, documentation accuracy, and data quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and annotate inpatient medical records using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS.
• Identify and sequence principal and secondary diagnoses.
• Assign POA indicators and validate MS-DRG classifications, including CCs and MCCs.
• Apply official inpatient coding guidelines and AHA Coding Clinic guidance.
• Identify hospital-acquired conditions and patient safety indicators.
• Resolve documentation ambiguities and provide feedback to improve coding accuracy and AI performance.

Required Qualifications

• Active AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or AAPC Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) credential.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and MS-DRG methodology.
• Hands-on inpatient coding experience across diverse clinical settings.
• Ability to review complex medical records and apply current coding guidelines.
• Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
• Access to current coding references and MS-DRG grouper tools.
