Salary

€70,000 – €80,000 gross annual salary (RAL) + benefits

We are looking for a Group Financial Controller to help run the accounting, reporting and controls across our group of companies. Working closely with the Senior Group Financial Controller, you will own the month-end close for several entities, support the group consolidation and audit, and keep our controls tight.

Key responsibilities

Group reporting and consolidation

• Supporting the preparation of the monthly management accounts for each entity and support the Group Financial Controller with the group consolidation, including translation of GBP, DKK, TRY and USD entities into euro.
• Prepare draft statutory financial statements (bilancio d'esercizio) under Italian GAAP (OIC) and support the consolidated accounts with the team.
• Assist in preparation of audit files.
• Help produce board packs and KPI reporting for management.

Intercompany and entity accounting

• Process intercompany recharges and management fees, reconcile intercompany balances monthly and resolve differences.
• Help bring newly acquired companies onto group processes and reporting.

Controls and compliance

• Operate and document the group's financial controls, and suggest improvements.
• Apply group accounting policies consistently across entities.
• Help make sure filings with the Agenzia delle Entrate and the Registro delle Imprese are made on time for the Italian entities.

Cash, budgeting and forecasting

• Support the annual budget and quarterly reforecasts.
• Prepare covenant calculations and lender reporting for review.

Team, systems and improvement

• Look for ways to streamline and automate the close and reporting.
• Take part in system projects (ERP, consolidation tools).
• Support the Group Financial Controller with ad hoc analysis and projects.
• Standardisation and integration for the reporting of new potential acquisitions/openings

Skills and experience

Essential

• Degree in Economics, Business or Finance (laurea in Economia or equivalent).
• 5 years' experience in a group accounting, assistant controller or senior accountant role, or in audit at a Big Four or mid-tier firm.
• Structured multinational companies experience.
• Hands-on experience of month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations, with some exposure to consolidation or intercompany accounting.
• Good knowledge of Italian GAAP (OIC); working knowledge of IFRS is a plus.
• Good knowledge of Italian tax and VAT (IRES, IRAP, IVA).
• Experience supporting a statutory audit.
• Strong Excel and experience with an ERP system (e.g. [SAP / TeamSystem / Zucchetti / NetSuite]).
• Fluent English and Italian, spoken and written; another European language is a plus.
• Organised, accurate and keen to learn.

Desirable

• Professional qualification in progress or completed: Dottore Commercialista, Revisore Legale, ACCA or CIMA.
• Experience in industry or in an acquisitive or private equity-backed group.
• Experience with multi-currency groups, including hyperinflation accounting for Turkish entities (IAS 29).
