Role Description MetLife is seeking an experienced Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to drive quality engineering across its digital and AI transformation program. The role requires strong programming fundamentals, test automation expertise, and hands-on AI-powered tools experience in an Agile, cloud-native environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply Agile/Scrum across the SDLC, including sprint planning, estimation, test strategy, and acceptance criteria.
• Partner with development and product teams to resolve defects, test failures, and regressions through clear bug reports.
• Build and maintain scalable Web, API, and Mobile/Native automation frameworks using Java or TypeScript, coding standards, design patterns, and programming fundamentals.
• Run automated and manual tests; analyze results, troubleshoot failures, and support CI/CD, performance, integration, and cloud-native testing with Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Azure, Docker, and Selenium Grid.
• Use GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude CLI, LLMs, and AI/ML frameworks to accelerate test creation, code review, SDLC optimization, test generation, anomaly detection, defect prediction, and root-cause analysis.

Candidate Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 3+ years of automation testing experience in high-tech and/or highly regulated industries, preferably using AI.
• Hands-on experience developing automation testing practices with modern technology stacks, scripting, programming, and BDD exposure.
• Strong skills in Java, Python, Bash, or PowerShell, with practical test automation experience.
• AI engineering experience using GitHub Copilot Agent Mode, GitHub Enterprise, and Microsoft AI Foundry to build agents, design prompts, run evaluations, and validate agent accuracy and performance.
