Gateway and Careers Coordinator
Hours negotiable | St Ignatius of Loyola Catholic College, Drury
About the role
St Ignatius of Loyola Catholic College is a growing Catholic, Ignatian secondary school in Drury, South Auckland. As our College continues to grow, we are seeking a motivated and organised Gateway and Careers Coordinator to establish and develop our Gateway programme and support ākonga as they explore future pathways in education, training and employment.
This is an exciting opportunity to build a programme from the ground up, developing strong relationships with local employers, training providers and tertiary institutions to create meaningful opportunities for our students.
Working collaboratively with school leaders and kaiako, you will help ensure our ākonga can access authentic workplace learning experiences and make informed decisions about their future pathways.
Key responsibilities
- Establish, coordinate and develop the College's Gateway programme.
- Build and maintain relationships with local employers, industry partners, tertiary providers and training organisations.
- Identify and coordinate meaningful workplace learning and work experience opportunities for ākonga.
- Support students to explore career options, develop career plans and prepare for transitions beyond school.
- Coordinate Gateway placements, including health and safety requirements, documentation, monitoring and assessment.
- Work with students, whānau and kaiako to identify individual needs, interests and aspirations.
- Support access to vocational learning, industry training and other relevant career pathways.
- Monitor student progress and programme outcomes, ensuring Gateway funding and reporting requirements are met.
About you
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience or a strong interest in careers education, vocational pathways, Gateway or work-based learning.
- Can build positive relationships with young people, employers and community partners.
- Is highly organised, proactive and able to establish effective systems and processes.
- Communicates effectively and works collaboratively with students, whānau and colleagues.
- Is committed to helping young people recognise their strengths, develop their gifts and explore opportunities for their future.
- Supports the Catholic and Ignatian special character of our College and our commitment to developing young people who are competent, compassionate, committed and people of conscience.
Experience coordinating Gateway or careers programmes would be an advantage. We are also interested in candidates who bring relevant experience in industry, employment services, vocational education or youth development.
Hours and flexibility
Hours are negotiable for the right candidate. We are open to discussing a part-time or full-time arrangement, depending on the successful applicant's experience, skills and the contribution they could make to the wider College.
