Drive your career forward with Wrights of Twycross

Wrights of Twycross Ltd is an established, family-run transport, environmental and waste management business, delivering essential services to major water and utility providers, alongside customers across the industrial, construction and agricultural sectors.

With more than 70 years of heritage, a reputation built on reliability and service, and a modern, specialist fleet, we continue to invest in our people, equipment and operations to support our growing customer base nationwide.

We are now looking for professional Category C (Class 2) and Category C+E (Class 1) HGV Drivers to join our expanding tanker operations.

Whether you're an experienced tanker operator or an HGV driver looking to develop your career in the environmental services sector, this is an opportunity to join a business where safety, professionalism and customer service are at the heart of everything we do.

The opportunity

Our tanker teams undertake essential industrial and commercial tanker operations nationwide, supporting planned works, reactive requirements and major customer projects.

You'll operate specialist vacuum tanker vehicles, working across a varied portfolio of sites and customers while helping us deliver the reliable, professional service our reputation is built upon.

We have opportunities across Twycross, Derby, Nottingham and Cranford St John, with a choice of working patterns to suit different operational requirements.

Available shift patterns include:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Tuesday to Saturday
  • Sunday to Thursday
  • Four on, four off

Opportunities are available across both Category C and Category C+E roles, subject to operational requirements and availability at each location.

Pay and working hours

  • Monday to Friday: £16.10 per hour.
  • Saturday and Sunday: £23.40 per hour.
  • Guaranteed hours: 40 hours per week.
  • Pay frequency: Four-weekly.

Our normal working day is based around a 12-hour shift, reflecting the nature of tanker operations and the demands of our customer commitments. However, no two days are the same. Depending on workload, travel, job requirements and operational demands, some shifts may be shorter, while others may run longer.

Flexibility is therefore an important part of the role. We need drivers who understand the operational requirements of the job and are committed to delivering a safe, reliable and professional service.

Key responsibilities

  • Safely operating our specialist tanker fleet in accordance with company procedures and relevant legislation.
  • Carrying out industrial and commercial vacuum tanker and waste removal operations.
  • Supporting planned and reactive works across our nationwide customer base.
  • Completing vehicle checks, defect reporting and all required operational documentation accurately.
  • Maintaining compliance with drivers' hours, working time, road transport legislation and site-specific requirements.
  • Planning routes effectively and managing time to meet operational and customer expectations.
  • Following all relevant health, safety and environmental procedures.
  • Representing Wrights of Twycross professionally at customer sites and on the road.
  • Working collaboratively with planners, supervisors and colleagues to deliver an efficient, customer-focused operation.

What we're looking for

To join our team, you'll need:

  • A full, valid UK Category C or Category C+E driving licence.
  • A valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
  • No more than six penalty points, subject to our licence and insurance requirements.
  • Previous HGV driving experience.
  • A professional attitude and a strong commitment to safety.
  • Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
  • The ability to work flexibly in line with operational requirements.
  • The ability to commute to your relevant operating location.

Previous vacuum tanker or industrial tanker experience is preferred but not essential. We welcome applications from drivers who have the right attitude, reliability and willingness to learn, alongside the skills needed to operate safely and professionally.

Employee benefits

We recognise the importance of supporting our people, both at work and beyond. Our benefits include:

  • Guaranteed Hours – 40 guaranteed hours of work per week.
  • Four-Weekly Pay – A consistent four-weekly pay schedule.
  • Annual Leave – 28 days' annual leave, inclusive of bank holidays, increasing to 33 days with length of service.
  • TELUS Health Employee Perks – Access to a range of health, wellbeing and lifestyle benefits.
  • Company Pension – A NEST workplace pension scheme to help you plan for your future.
  • Training and Development – Access to training opportunities to develop your skills, knowledge and experience within our specialist transport operations.
  • Westfield Health Cash Plan – Available after six months' continuous service.

Why join Wrights of Twycross?

With competitive hourly rates, enhanced weekend pay, guaranteed hours, a choice of shift patterns and opportunities for further training, this is an excellent opportunity for drivers looking for a stable role within a growing specialist transport operation.
