Oracle Systems Engineer

Key Responsibilities

Exadata & Oracle Infrastructure Management

• Hands-on experience with Oracle Exadata X9M-2, ExaCC, and ExaCS.

• Expertise in managing and troubleshooting Exadata compute, storage, networking, and firmware components.

• Perform patching, firmware upgrades, and health checks on Exadata systems.

• Optimize Exadata configurations for performance and scalability.

Database Administration & Performance Tuning

• Strong expertise in Oracle Database 12c and 19c administration.

• Perform advanced SQL tuning, AWR, ASH, and ADDM analysis for performance optimization.

• Hands-on experience with Partitioning, Indexing, and Query Optimization.

• Troubleshoot and resolve database performance and capacity issues.

• Implement RAC, Data Guard, and GoldenGate replication strategies.

Oracle GoldenGate (OGG) Experience

• Expertise in installing, configuring, and managing Oracle GoldenGate (OGG) 12c/19c.

• Design and implement real-time replication, high-availability, and disaster recovery solutions using GoldenGate.

• Experience in bidirectional, unidirectional, and heterogeneous replication.

• Performance tuning and troubleshooting of Extract, Pump, and Replicat processes.

• Implement GoldenGate monitoring and automation using OEM or third-party tools.

• Upgrade GoldenGate environments with minimal downtime strategies.

Migration & Upgrade Experience

• Hands-on experience in migrating databases across different platforms, on-premises to cloud (OCI, AWS, Azure), and within Exadata environments.

• Plan and execute database upgrades from 11g/12c to 19c and beyond, ensuring minimal downtime.

• Perform cross-platform migration using Data Pump, Transportable Tablespaces (TTS), RMAN, GoldenGate, and ZDM (Zero Downtime Migration).

• Conduct Oracle Grid Infrastructure and Oracle Home migrations/upgrades.

• Migrate Oracle workloads from legacy hardware to Exadata, ExaCC, or ExaCS.

• Ensure data integrity and rollback strategies are in place before performing migrations.

Patch & Upgrade Management

• Perform Oracle Home, Grid Infrastructure, and OS patching and upgrades.

• Manage OS VM updates and OS upgrades for Oracle environments.

• Automate patching and upgrade processes using scripts and Ansible.

Storage & ASM Administration

• Expertise in managing ASM (Automatic Storage Management).

• Configure and maintain disk groups, disk group rebalance, and redundancy strategies.

• Troubleshoot ASM-related issues and optimize storage performance.

Backup & Recovery

• Expert-level knowledge of backup and recovery in all possible scenarios.

• Experience with RMAN, Data Pump, Flashback, and ZDLRA (Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance).

• Plan and execute disaster recovery (DR) drills and failover scenarios.

• Implement automated backup strategies and validate recovery points.

• Deep understanding of ZDLRA, RMAN, Data Guard, and backup strategies.

Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) 13c & Monitoring

• Strong hands-on experience in Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) 13c.

• Configure and maintain monitoring, alerts, and diagnostics.

• Implement compliance, security policies, and automation in OEM.

• Optimize OEM agent and repository performance.

Security & Compliance

• Implement and maintain Oracle Key Vault (OKV) for encryption and key management.

• Perform vulnerability assessments and patch compliance checks.

• Secure databases using TDE, VPD, and database auditing.

• Work with security teams to mitigate database security risks.

Scripting & Automation

• Develop automation scripts using Shell scripting and database scripting.

• Automate daily health checks, backup verification, and database maintenance tasks.

• Create scripts for log analysis, system monitoring, and self-healing mechanisms.

High Availability & Disaster Recovery

• Hands-on expertise in Data Guard, Active Data Guard, and RAC failover scenarios.

• Implement and manage disaster recovery (DR) solutions for mission-critical systems.

• Design and maintain multi-region and cloud DR strategies.

Other Skills

• Experience in vulnerability management and security hardening.

• Strong knowledge of Linux (OL, RHEL) and OS-level troubleshooting.

• Strong scripting skills in Shell scripting

Certifications:

• Oracle Certified Master (OCM) or Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) in Exadata, GoldenGate, and Database Administration.
