Quantity Surveyor

Role Description The Quantity Surveyor at Laboratório de Tratamento de Minérios (LTM) - UFMG will support project teams by managing cost-related activities for mining and mineral processing projects in a part-time, remote capacity. Day-to-day tasks include preparing and reviewing Bills of Quantities (BOQs), monitoring project costs, and assisting in the development of cost plans and budgets. The role involves analyzing project data, updating cost reports, and providing clear financial insights to support decision-making and project optimization. The Quantity Surveyor will collaborate with engineers, researchers, and project managers, participate in online meetings, and ensure that cost documentation is accurate, compliant with internal standards, and submitted on schedule.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability in Cost Control and Cost Management for engineering or construction-related projects.
• Experience preparing and reviewing BOQ and supporting quantity take-off and measurement activities.
• Skills in Cost Planning, including budgeting, forecasting, and lifecycle cost estimation.
• Proficiency in Cost Reporting, including preparing periodic financial summaries and variance analyses.
• Relevant degree or ongoing studies in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Familiarity with cost management software, spreadsheets, and basic project management tools.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English; Portuguese proficiency is an advantage.
