Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled, Hands- On Working Warehouse Manager to lead operations at our specialized crating and export packaging facility near BWI Airport. In this role, you will be a "player- coach"- equally split between managing shop production and physically fabricating custom crates and packing sensitive, high- value assets. Your leadership will drive efficiency, foster team development, and ensure smooth execution of all packaging projects in a fast-paced environment.

Job Requirements

1. Operations & Shop Management

• Production Oversight: Supervise the daily operations of the carpentry and box shop facility, delegating tasks to a team of crate builders, packers, and material handlers.
• Production Scheduling: Monitor contract milestones and logistics timelines to ensure custom crates are fabricated and loaded on time to meet strict mission requirements.
• Inventory Control: Manage stocks of specialized raw materials, including heat-treated lumber, plywood, high-density military foams, fasteners, and heavy-duty hardware.

2. Technical Design & Quality Assurance

• Military-Spec Compliance: Ensure all containers conform strictly to specific contract guidelines and military standards (e.g., MIL-SPEC blueprints, ASTM standards).
• Custom Design: Utilize blueprint schematics or CAD software to design customized, interior-engineered crates that incorporate dynamic blocking, bracing, and shock absorption for complex hardware.
• International Standards Execution: Enforce strict adherence to ISPM 15 / ALSC (American Lumber Standard Committee) regulations for wood packaging to prevent international shipping holds.

3. Safety, Facility, & Equipment Leadership

• Industrial Safety: Champion rigid adherence to OSHA and industrial plant safety policies, managing regular checks on heavy machinery such as table saws, industrial nail guns, and forklifts.
• Equipment Maintenance: Schedule preventative maintenance and calibrate automated packaging or cutting equipment.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Experience: Requires 3–5+ years of supervisory experience in industrial crating, aerospace/defense packaging, or heavy manufacturing.
• Clearance: Must be able to pass a DOD background/security screening
• Certifications (Highly Preferred): 1. Certified Packaging Professional (CPP) or military packaging training certifications. 2. Forklift operator and OSHA safety certifications.
• · Key Skills: Proficient blueprint reading, wood fabrication skills, knowledge of automated wood-cutting software, and familiarity with federal procurement tracking systems.
• Ability to design crates and boxes inclusive of specialty items
• Must be able to create a quotation for government contractors

Physical Requirements

• · Able to lift 50-60lbs, lift and carry sheets of plywood that are 4’x 8’, stand, walking, kneeling, reaching

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
