About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineer to lead the on-site testing, energisation, and commissioning of the electrical power chain on hyperscale and colocation data center projects across Europe.

You will own the electrical scope through the commissioning levels (L1 to L5) , from factory acceptance and site acceptance testing through functional, integrated systems, and load testing, taking equipment from delivery to live load.

You will work the full power path from the utility intake and MV switchgear down to the rack, including transformers, generators, UPS, switchboards, busway, and the protection and control that ties it together.

This is a site-based role on major data center infrastructure projects. You will be the electrical commissioning authority on the systems in your scope, coordinating with the CxA, EPC, OEM field service teams, and the client. You will spend most of your working time on site.

Responsibilities

• Execute electrical commissioning across all levels : review and witness L1 factory acceptance tests, lead L2 site acceptance, drive L3 functional performance testing, and support L4 integrated systems testing (IST) and L5 load bank / pull-the-plug scenarios.
• Commission and energise the MV and LV power chain: MV switchgear, distribution and unit transformers, generators and paralleling switchgear, UPS systems, main and sub-distribution switchboards, busway, STS, ATS, PDUs, and downstream distribution.
• Test and verify protection and control: relay configuration and testing (ABB, Siemens, Schneider), protection coordination, breaker timing and trip testing, and primary injection where required.
• Verify integration with SCADA / EPMS / BMS / PMS: I/O checks, alarm and metering verification, sequence of operation, and automatic transfer / load shed scenarios.
• Develop, review, and execute commissioning scripts, method statements, and test procedures, and produce clear, traceable test records and reports.
• Identify, log, and drive closure of defects and observation s; manage red-line markups and as-built handover documentation.
• Plan and sequence commissioning activities against the project schedule, and report progress, risks, and delays to the CxA and project management.

Qualifications

• Degree or higher diploma in Electrical Engineering , or equivalent trade qualification with strong electrical field experience.
• OEM commissioning or field service certifications on relevant equipment (UPS, switchgear, protection relays, or generators) are a strong advantage.
• Authorised Person / Senior Authorised Person (AP/SAP) qualification is an advantage.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in commissioning electrical power systems, with data center or mission-critical facility experience strongly preferred.
• Practical command of the commissioning levels (L1 to L5) and the CxA-led process, including IST and load bank testing.
• Strong familiarity with the data center power chain: MV/LV switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS, ATS/STS, switchboards, busway, and PDUs.
• Working knowledge of protection relays and their testing (e.g. ABB PCM600, Siemens DIGSI, Schneider Easergy Studio) and protection coordination principles.
• Understanding of SCADA / BMS / EPMS / PMS integration and the verification of sequences of operation, alarms, and metering.
• Solid grasp of site safety practices, safe switching, and isolation procedures during live energisation.
• Willingness to travel and work on rotation across European project sites.
• Working English (additional European languages are an advantage).
