Field Service Technician – Transformer, BESS & Solar

Location: Houston, TX + Nationwide Travel

Pay: $18.00–$25.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications

Job Summary

MW ENERGY LLC is hiring a hands-on Field Service Technician to support our Houston Service Center and nationwide field projects.

Our work involves power transformers, switchgear, battery energy storage systems (BESS), solar systems, and related electrical infrastructure.

We are looking for candidates with at least 1–2 years of hands-on experience in industrial maintenance, electrical work, mechanical repair, field service, welding, fabrication, equipment installation, or a related trade.

Direct transformer or BESS experience is preferred but not required. Training will be provided to qualified candidates.

Responsibilities

• Perform equipment inspection, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting
• Support transformer repair, refurbishment, testing, and oil processing
• Assist with switchgear, BESS, solar, and electrical infrastructure projects
• Perform equipment disassembly, assembly, wiring, termination, and mechanical work
• Use hand tools, power tools, multimeters, and other test equipment
• Read basic electrical drawings, schematics, and equipment instructions
• Complete service reports, checklists, photographs, and test records
• Follow LOTO, PPE, JHA/JSA, and Company safety procedures
• Maintain assigned tools, equipment, and work areas
• Travel to customer sites throughout the United States as required

Qualifications

• At least 1–2 years of relevant hands-on work experience
• Mechanical, electrical, industrial maintenance, welding, fabrication, or field-service background
• Basic troubleshooting ability
• Comfortable using hand and power tools
• Able to follow technical instructions and safety procedures
• Able to work independently and as part of a field-service team
• Willing to learn transformer, switchgear, BESS, solar, and electrical testing procedures
• Willing to travel for assignments lasting several days to approximately two weeks
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Authorized to work in the United States
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in shop, outdoor, and industrial environments

Preferred Experience

• Power transformers or switchgear
• Commercial or industrial electrical systems
• BESS or solar systems
• Electrical troubleshooting and multimeter use
• Industrial equipment maintenance or repair
• Welding, fabrication, rigging, or mechanical assembly
• Field service or commissioning
• Reading electrical schematics or mechanical drawings
• OSHA 10, NFPA 70E, LOTO, First Aid/CPR, forklift, or rigging certification

Work Schedule and Travel

This position includes work at the MW ENERGY Houston Service Center and customer sites throughout the United States.

Candidates must be available for occasional overtime, weekend work, night work, and short-term travel based on project requirements.

Travel expenses are handled in accordance with Company policy.

Career Development

Qualified technicians may receive training in:

• Transformer inspection and repair
• TTR, winding resistance, and insulation resistance testing
• Transformer oil processing
• Switchgear maintenance
• BESS and solar field service
• Commissioning and troubleshooting

Technicians who demonstrate strong safety, technical, documentation, and leadership performance may advance to Senior Technician or Field Team Lead positions.
