· Minimum 7 years of main contractor experience required
Job Description
The Fire Services / MVAC Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering both Fire Services and MVAC works from design review through installation, testing, commissioning and handover. This role therefore suits an engineer who can combine technical coordination, project delivery and hands-on drawing production in CAD and/or BIM across both disciplines.
What You’ll Be Doing
· Manage Fire Services and MVAC works throughout the project lifecycle, including design coordination, site execution, testing, commissioning and handover.
· Prepare, develop and update Fire Services and MVAC shop drawings, coordination drawings, combined services drawings and as-built drawings in CAD and/or BIM to support construction and installation works.
· Review tender drawings, specifications and design information, and translate them into buildable contractor shop drawings for site execution.
· Coordinate Fire Services and MVAC interfaces with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, ELV and builders’ works requirements.
· Work with site teams to verify actual site conditions, identify drawing discrepancies and incorporate construction constraints into coordinated shop drawings.
· Monitor site progress, workmanship, installation quality and subcontractor performance for Fire Services and MVAC works.
· Liaise with consultants, clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal project teams on technical submissions, drawing comments and site issues.
· Plan and coordinate installation of fire hydrant and hose reel systems, sprinkler systems, fire alarm and detection systems, gas suppression systems, aspirating smoke detection systems and portable fire services equipment.
· Plan and coordinate MVAC systems including chilled water systems, air conditioning systems, mechanical ventilation systems, condensate drain systems, automatic temperature control related interfaces and associated equipment installation.
· Support statutory submissions, inspections, testing and acceptance processes with relevant authorities and stakeholders.
· Prepare and track RFI, shop drawing, material submission, sample submission, inspection request and testing records.
· Coordinate testing and commissioning activities, including pre-commissioning checks, flushing, pressure testing, air and water balancing support, integrated system testing, defect rectification and close-out follow-up.
· Assist in identifying design conflicts, construction constraints and interface issues, and propose practical solutions to maintain programme and buildability.
· Work closely with site and planning teams to align Fire Services and MVAC activities with project milestones, access constraints and work sequences.
· Monitor safety, quality and housekeeping standards on site and ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved procedures.
· Support preparation of as-built drawings, O&M manuals, training records and handover documentation.
What We’re Looking For
· Degree, Higher Diploma or Diploma in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
· Minimum 7 years of relevant experience with a main contractor in Hong Kong.
· Solid experience in Fire Services and/or MVAC coordination and delivery on building, E&M or major fit-out projects.
· Proven ability to prepare shop drawings and coordination drawings independently for construction use.
· Proficient in AutoCAD and familiar with BIM workflow such as Revit or equivalent platforms.
· Good knowledge of Fire Services systems, MVAC systems, statutory requirements, site coordination and testing and commissioning processes.
· Able to coordinate across multiple disciplines and manage subcontractor interfaces effectively.
· Strong problem-solving, communication and site coordination skills.
· Able to work under pressure and manage deadlines in a fast-track project environment.
· Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese.
Preferred
· Experience in data centre, mission critical, commercial or large-scale renovation projects.
· Familiarity with combined services drawings, BIM coordination and drawing production for site execution.
· Familiarity with integrated testing and commissioning, phased handover and defect close-out processes.
· Practical understanding of authority inspections, site constraints and live-environment coordination.
Why Join Us
· Opportunity to take a leading role in both technical coordination and project delivery across two major MEP disciplines.
· Exposure to multidisciplinary coordination and complex MEP delivery.
· Involvement from drawing development through construction, commissioning and handover.
