Solar Project Manager

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of a 100MWac utility-scale solar PV project under Malaysia's Large Scale Solar (LSS5+) programme. You will run the project from development through construction, testing, commissioning and Commercial Operation Date (COD). You will be the main point of contact for clients, authorities, utilities and contractors. This role is based at our PJ office, with regular travel to the project site.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, run and control the project's schedule, budget, scope and quality from start to COD
• Manage EPC contractors, subcontractors and suppliers, and track their contract performance
• Coordinate with TNB, Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Energy Commission), SEDA and other authorities on approvals, permits and grid connection milestones
• Oversee engineering design reviews, procurement and equipment delivery for PV modules, inverters, transformers and the HV substation
• Track project progress, prepare reports and present updates to management and stakeholders
• Find project risks early and put mitigation plans in place
• Make sure the site follows HSE requirements, quality standards and regulatory requirements
• Manage variations, claims, payments and project documentation
• Lead testing and commissioning, and the handover to operations

About you

• Degree in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
• At least 3 years of project management experience, with at least 2 years on utility-scale solar PV or power plant projects
• Has delivered at least one LSS or similar large-scale solar project (above 10MW) through to COD
• Good knowledge of TNB grid interconnection requirements, HV substations and Malaysian regulatory processes
• Strong skills in contract management, cost control and scheduling (MS Project)
• Good leadership, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
• Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia
• PMP certification and BEM registration are an advantage
• Willing to travel to the project site monthly
