About King of Budz

King of Budz is a growing cannabis retail company focused on building professional, compliant, and high-performing dispensary operations. We are looking for an experienced OCM Compliance & Inventory Manager to join our New York team and help ensure our inventory systems, documentation, and daily operations are accurate, organized, and compliant.

This is a hands-on position for someone who understands that strong inventory control and regulatory compliance are critical to the success of a cannabis retail operation.

Position Overview

The OCM Compliance & Inventory Manager will oversee inventory operations while serving as a key resource for New York Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) compliance. This position will be responsible for inventory accuracy, Metrc and POS accuracy, receiving, transfers, audits, discrepancy resolution, documentation, reporting, and helping ensure the store consistently follows company policies and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working with data and compliance systems, and able to identify problems before they become larger operational issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor compliance-related processes and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain organized records for compliance reviews, audits, and inspections.
  • Monitor regulatory requirements and communicate important changes to store leadership.
  • Identify potential compliance issues and escalate them to management promptly.
  • Assist with corrective action plans and follow through to ensure issues are resolved.
  • Help train team members on inventory and compliance procedures.
  • Maintain a high level of operational readiness for OCM inspections and internal audits.

Inventory Management

  • Oversee daily inventory activity and ensure accurate inventory counts.
  • Conduct cycle counts, full inventory counts, reconciliations, and inventory audits.
  • Monitor POS and Metrc records for accuracy and consistency.
  • Oversee receiving, product transfers, returns, adjustments, waste, and other inventory transactions.
  • Research and resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Monitor product movement from receiving through sale.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and supporting documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy and reduce loss.

Metrc & Reporting

  • Ensure required inventory activity is entered accurately and maintained in Metrc and company systems.
  • Reconcile Metrc, POS, and physical inventory records.
  • Investigate reporting discrepancies and correct issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate compliance and inventory reporting.
  • Prepare inventory and compliance reports for store and corporate leadership.
  • Monitor documentation and reporting deadlines to ensure timely completion.

Vendor & Credit Management

  • Review incoming shipments for accuracy, quantity, and condition.
  • Track vendor shortages, damages, returns, and discrepancies.
  • Track and reconcile vendor credits.
  • Maintain documentation for outstanding and completed credits.
  • Follow up with vendors to ensure credits and inventory issues are resolved.
  • Communicate significant vendor or inventory concerns to management.

Audits & Internal Controls

  • Conduct regular inventory and compliance audits.
  • Review inventory procedures to ensure company SOPs are being followed.
  • Identify process gaps and recommend improvements.
  • Assist leadership with internal investigations involving inventory discrepancies or compliance concerns.
  • Maintain organized documentation that can be easily reviewed by management or regulatory representatives.

Training & Team Support

  • Train inventory and store employees on proper inventory and compliance procedures.
  • Provide ongoing coaching related to inventory accuracy, documentation, and regulatory standards.
  • Hold team members accountable for following established procedures.
  • Work closely with the General Manager and Regional Leadership to improve store performance and compliance.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous cannabis industry experience, preferably in New York.
  • Experience working with OCM compliance and/or Metrc strongly preferred.
  • Inventory management experience in a regulated retail environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Experience conducting inventory counts, reconciliations, and audits.
  • Strong computer and spreadsheet skills.
  • Ability to identify discrepancies and investigate issues thoroughly.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating with store and corporate leadership.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive business information professionally.
  • Must be 21+ and eligible to work in a licensed cannabis facility.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who takes ownership. You should be someone who notices when something doesn't look right, investigates it, communicates the issue, and follows it through until it is resolved.

This role is a great fit for an individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, understands the importance of compliance, and wants to play an important role in helping build a strong and organized cannabis operation in New York.
