As part of the DFG-fundes reasearch projekt "BikontConfine" the Faculty of Chemistry has the following job opening:

Research Position (m/f/d)

The project involves investigating the phase behaviour of ternary and quaternary mixtures under the influence of nano-confinement in porous materials. There is an opportunity to pursue a PhD.

Your Tasks

• investigation of microemulsions in confined geometries using scattering methods, such as SAXS and SANS (80 %)
• maintenance of the relevant equipment, in particular the small-angle X-ray scattering setup (20 %)

The post is conducive to academic development, and opportunities are provided for academic (further) development.

Your Profile

We expect

• a completed relevant academic degree (Master’s) in Chemistry, Physics or Materials Science
• basic knowledge of small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS)
• basic knowledge of recording phase diagrams of surfactant/water/oil mixtures or similar systems
• working independently, taking initiative, and demonstrating commitment
• a cooperative and team-oriented approach to work

Preferred experience and skills

• a good command of English
• willingness to take part in experiments at major research facilities (worldwide)
