PWHT OPERATORS

Qualifications & Experience

• Technical diploma/certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Technology, Metallurgy, or a related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Post-Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT), preferably in oil & gas, petrochemical, fabrication, or piping projects.
• Experience with piping, pressure vessels, structural components, and process equipment is preferred.
• Knowledge of PWHT requirements for carbon steel, low-alloy steel, and P91/P22 materials is an advantage.
• Familiarity with applicable codes and standards such as ASME, AWS, and project-specific specifications.

Technical Skills

• Hands-on experience operating and setting up electrical resistance heating equipment for PWHT.
• Knowledge of:
• Heating and cooling rates
• Soaking/holding temperatures
• Thermocouple installation
• Temperature monitoring and control
• Insulation and heating arrangements
• Temperature recorder/chart interpretation
• Ability to install and connect thermocouples, heating elements, cables, and temperature recorders.
• Ability to read isometric drawings, welding maps, and PWHT procedures.
• Able to identify abnormal temperature readings and equipment issues.
• Knowledge of safe electrical and hot-work practices.

Documentation

• Able to complete PWHT charts, temperature records, inspection checklists, and daily reports.
• Maintain proper records of weld numbers, joint numbers, material specifications, heating cycles, and results.
• Coordinate with Welding, QC/NDT, and HSE teams.
