What they need

  • KVM、QEMU、libvirt、Open vSwitch
  • Cisco IOS / IOS XE / IOS XR、OSPF、VRRP / HSRP、BGP Policy、Route Filtering
  • IP Transit、BGP Peering、ASN、Public IP Operations
  • Shell、Python、Go、Ansible
  • WHMCS、Cloudflare、Netdata、Zabbix、Gatus、Uptime Kuma

CCNA、CCNP

We are a Toronto-based cloud infrastructure company operating data center servers, VPS platforms and related network infrastructure primarily in the United States, serving customers in China and international markets.

We are a small technical team, so engineers work directly with real production infrastructure and are expected to take ownership of problems rather than only handling one narrow part of a process. We are looking for someone who can investigate an issue, make a technical judgment, propose a solution and move it through to resolution. When a problem involves a data center, server vendor or upstream carrier, the engineer should also be comfortable opening the ticket directly, coordinating the work and following it through until the issue is actually resolved.

As our infrastructure continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Linux & Network Infrastructure Engineer to work on Linux hypervisors, physical servers, Cisco routers, BGP networks, new infrastructure deployments and day-to-day infrastructure operations.

All of our production servers are located in the United States, so this is a 100% fully remote role. No on-site data center work is required. Physical work such as racking, cabling and hardware replacement is normally handled by our server vendors, data center technicians or Remote Hands. The engineer should understand these processes and be comfortable coordinating deployments and troubleshooting remotely through support tickets, email, iDRAC, SSH and remote consoles.

Responsibilities:

  • Deploy, configure and maintain Linux physical servers and VPS hypervisors, including SSH, network interfaces, IP addressing, gateways, static routes, VLANs, bonding and routing tables.
  • Use Dell iDRAC or similar out-of-band management platforms for remote installation, console access, power control, virtual media, hardware checks and troubleshooting.
  • Configure and maintain Cisco routers, including BGP, static routing, interfaces, VLANs, LAGs and ACLs, and participate in production network migrations, route cutovers and router changes.
  • Support new server and network deployments, including vendor delivery, network ports, cross connects, LOAs, Remote Hands, Linux configuration, router configuration and final production validation.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure issues across Linux hosts, NICs, ARP, gateways, routers, BGP, cross connects, data centers and upstream carriers.
  • Communicate with US data centers, server vendors and network carriers through English support tickets and email, coordinate Remote Hands, follow incidents through resolution and verify the final result.
  • Assist with internal networking and automation systems where required, including GoBGP, private BGP sessions, routing automation, APIs and monitoring.
  • During quieter infrastructure periods, assist with other reasonable technical operations work such as monitoring, WHMCS, Cloudflare, internal tools, documentation, SOPs and basic website maintenance.

Requirements:

  • Hands-on Linux Server Administration experience and the ability to independently troubleshoot common Linux system and networking issues.
  • Practical Cisco router experience and a solid understanding of BGP, ARP, VLANs, Layer 2 / Layer 3 networking, next-hop behavior, routing tables and prefix advertisement.
  • Familiarity with physical servers and common data center processes such as cross connects, LOAs, Remote Hands, port delivery and IP Transit.
  • Experience with Dell iDRAC or similar remote server management platforms.
  • Real production troubleshooting experience and the ability to investigate problems logically instead of relying entirely on existing SOPs.
  • Ability to take ownership of an issue from initial investigation through resolution instead of waiting for each next step to be assigned.
  • Good awareness of production change risk, including validation and rollback when modifying routers, routing or Linux networking.
  • Basic programming ability in Python or Go. Candidates should be able to read existing code, make simple changes and write small operational scripts.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in Chinese for internal collaboration, with sufficient written English to communicate independently with international vendors through tickets and email.
  • Ability to work independently, make reasonable technical judgments and know when a second opinion or team discussion is appropriate.

Relevant experience with the following would be particularly useful:

  • VPS / Cloud Hosting, IDC, ISP, Carrier or NOC environments.
  • KVM, QEMU, libvirt, Open vSwitch or similar virtualization technologies.
  • Cisco IOS / IOS XE / IOS XR, OSPF, VRRP / HSRP, BGP policy and route filtering.
  • IP Transit, BGP peering, ASN, public IP operations or data center network delivery.
  • Shell, Python, Go, Ansible or other automation tooling.
  • WHMCS, Cloudflare, Netdata, Zabbix, Gatus, Uptime Kuma or similar systems.

CCNA, CCNP or similar certifications are welcome but are not mandatory. Practical production experience, independent problem-solving ability and a genuine understanding of how the underlying systems work are more important to us than academic qualifications or certifications alone.

We actively use AI tools in our technical workflow for log analysis, technical research, scripting, configuration review, troubleshooting and documentation. Engineers are encouraged to use AI to improve efficiency, but any command or configuration applied to a production server or network device must still be understood and validated by the engineer.

Because we are a small team, there is no long internal escalation chain. In many cases, the person who identifies an infrastructure issue will also be the person responsible for moving it toward resolution. We provide existing documentation, SOPs and support from the rest of the team, but we also expect engineers to make reasonable progress independently instead of waiting for every individual step to be provided.

This is a fully remote role. Candidates may live anywhere in Malaysia, but must currently be based in Malaysia.

Normal working hours are 09:00–18:00 Malaysia Time, with a lunch break from 12:30–14:00. Because the role is remote, we prefer a reasonably flexible working style rather than unnecessary online presence. At the same time, infrastructure operations may occasionally require maintenance, migrations, network cutovers or urgent incident response outside normal working hours. Candidates should be reasonably flexible when operationally necessary. Planned maintenance will normally be arranged in advance, and frequent or continuous overtime is not intended to be the normal working model.

This position is offered as a Full-time Independent Contractor engagement. Monthly Contractor Compensation is RM 6,000–RM 8,000, depending on relevant Linux, Cisco, BGP, data center operations, programming, production troubleshooting and independent working experience.
