Key Responsibilities
Develop hardware-aware QEC schemes using theoretical analysis and simulation, based on realistic noise models for superconducting qubit platforms (e.g., surface codes, LDPC codes).
Design and optimize logical-qubit operation protocols, including logical gates, state preparation, and measurement/readout procedures.
Collaborate with software engineers to build efficient QEC simulators and decoders for rapid performance evaluation at scale.
Work closely with experimental physicists: co-design QEC experiments, analyze experimental data, and iterate models/protocols based on outcomes.
Design and execute QEC experiments on superconducting processors to implement and benchmark logical qubits and logical operations.
Develop high-precision calibration methods and software tools to quantify the impact of noise sources (dephasing, crosstalk, readout errors, etc.) on QEC performance.
Contribute to the design and validation of next-generation scalable quantum computing architectures, driving QEC toward engineering deployment.
Required Qualifications
PhD (or equivalent research capability) in Physics, Computer Science, Quantum Information/Computing, or a closely related field.
Solid research experience in QEC or quantum computing (typically 3–5+ years; evaluated by outputs and impact).
Familiarity with at least one major QEC code family and fundamental decoding concepts (surface/color/LDPC, etc.).
Strong programming skills in Python; C++ is a plus.
Strong collaboration and communication skills across software/experimental/system teams, with good technical writing habits.
Preferred / Nice-to-have
Experience with MWPM, Union-Find, neural/Transformer-based decoders, and/or real-time decoding implementations
Noise modeling and numerical simulation experience (Markovian/non-Markovian), master-equation or quantum-trajectory methods.
Proficiency with at least one quantum software stack: Qiskit, Cirq, Stim, TKET, etc.
Publications in leading venues (e.g., PRL, Nature family, QIP, APS March Meeting), or strong open-source/engineering deliverables with measurable results.
Practical experience with protocol design under hardware constraints and experimental iteration/data analysis.
