Thales DIS (ex. Gemalto) is a division of Thales Group. Thales has acquired Gemalto in 2019. Thales DIS offers biometrics & identity management systems including fingerprint scanners, ABIS systems (Automated Biometric Identification Systems), live scan devices, iris capture devices, facial recognition, and supporting software. AFIS is used in Algeria by law-enforcement agencies for criminal investigations (CAFIS systems) and by the home office (ministry of the interior) for the secured documents (biometric passports, ...). I have worked on AFIS projects in Algeria since 2011 for 3M/Cogent and since 2016 for Cogent Systems Maghreb as an Oracle DBA expert/Technical Lead, and now I am working directly for Thales as a CABIS Projects Technical Lead.
