As a Security Engineer intern at Henceforth, I spearheaded the development of a privacy-preserving encrypted search system tailored for secure messaging applications. This project aimed to tackle the substantial vulnerabilities associated with data leakage in untrusted cloud environments, utilizing cutting-edge homomorphic encryption technologies. My key contributions are as following : - Research and Analysis: Conducted extensive research into data leakage phenomena and the associated risks, reviewing existing solutions to craft a tailored approach to mitigating these threats. - Solution Design and Implementation: Developed and implemented a robust Private Information Retrieval (PIR) based solution, optimizing for minimal query size and enhanced server throughput. This included innovating with advanced lattice-based encryption techniques to balance performance and security. - Evaluation and Optimization: Led the evaluation of system performance against industry benchmarks, achieving significant improvements in throughput and security. - Team Collaboration and Agile Management: Collaborated closely with both internal and external supervisors, employing Agile methodologies to ensure timely delivery and adherence to high-security standards. This project enhanced the confidentiality and privacy of user interactions within Henceforth's cloud services, significantly reducing the risk of data leaks and setting a new standard for security practices within the company. Furthermore, while achieving significant milestones, still requires further development and refinement. Ongoing efforts are focused on enhancing the scalability and efficiency of the solution to meet evolving security demands.
