Led digital transformation of localization department of coordinators, editors and linguists producing broadcast subtitles in 4 languages leveraging emergent AI-language tools and automation increasing production capacity from 35k to >60k content hours in the first year.

Led staff of 25 Dev-ops and Broadcast engineers developing VOD products and managing core broadcast systems: MAM, Playout Scheduling, Transcoding, Content & Metadata Ingest, Downlink Recording, Contribution Feed over IP, AWS Direct Connect fiber traffic, Editing & QC systems, Content Library Archive, Ad insertion, Business Management Systems, a Subtitle Management Platform and Pass-through Channel Content Control automation (Censorship and Ad Replacement). Owned division roadmap, development cycles, budgets and reporting. Conducted evaluations, POCs and deployments of AI tools for Broadcast, Localization and metadata enrichment.

Led cloud developer teams building and enhancing core backend processes and services in an Agile framework to meet iflix’s rapid streaming service expansion to >30 countries. Orchestrated AWS content processing and storage related services, expanded Digital Rights Management player capabilities, added player features boosting UX, enabled content and in-app Localization features, improved sound and picture quality and reduced playback buffering latency. Automated bulk ingest, transcode and content publishing and integrations with 3rd party curation and publishing CMS. Evaluated AI language tools to boost subtitle production and generate searchable metadata.

Built-up and Led localization department, headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, staffing and enabling remote teams across 12 branch offices reaching >150 staff, each managing local linguist pools of 40-80 freelancers in less than 1 year from kickoff. Established workstreams, training modules, SOPs, performance metrics and subtitle style guidelines. Conducted market discovery studies, on-site recruitment rounds, team building sessions and town halls. Negotiated with Language Service Providers, established Localization roadmap, budget & reporting to C-level stakeholders. Established company presence with regional broadcasters, dubbing studios and translation agencies.

Drove technical improvements of methods to generate error-free subtitles and dubbing versions in partnership with US-based Netflix vendor managers, SDI Media’s dubbing studio production touchpoints, Subtitle Language locale touchpoints, in-house motion graphics artists, international client manager teams, and external vendors across EMEA.

Managed dubbing production and operational standards of SDI Media Netherlands and its global clients. Administered build of dubbing studio facility in Amsterdam, outfitting 5 recording studios and a 5.1 mixing studio, editing suites and IT infrastructure. Developed local business and company presence across the regional Media & Entertainment sector including joint production with SDI Media’s Flemish & French studio operations.
