AWS Commerce Platform (CP) & Region Expansion Technologies is the engineering organization supporting how AWS customers access and pay for cloud services globally, spanning billing, security, regulatory compliance, and the infrastructure that enables AWS CP to operate in every region worldwide. Over eight years, I've grown and led this organization from 63 to 400+ engineers and product managers across eight global locations, expanding the team's scope from core billing operations into a comprehensive engineering organization covering region expansion, security, data lake, AI-driven automation, and international development. Some of the work I'm most proud of: architecting and deploying AWS's European Sovereign Cloud and two Amazon Dedicated Cloud environments at Secret and Top Secret classification levels, each representing some of the most complex, compliance-intensive infrastructure deployments in the industry. Built automated billing systems that scale with AWS's global growth, and launched an AI-driven service that accelerates regulatory compliance identification and automates testing across new regions and legal entities. More recently, launched an autonomous agentic security service to proactively address platform risks at scale. Beyond the technical work, I care deeply about building engineering communities. A Tech Talks series I started has grown to 100+ events with over 7,000 attendees. I also launched a yearly intern showcase, a science-fair style event that has given hundreds of interns a platform to present their work to the broader organization. The team has filed 46 patents, 27 granted, 19 pending, involving 65 contributors, which I consider one of the truest measures of a healthy innovation culture.

Led a global R&D team of 70+ engineers and developers across four locations, building the engineering and automation foundation for VMware's vCloud Air hybrid cloud service, one of VMware's most strategically important products at the time. Owned performance testing for vCloud Director, the core component of vCloud Air. Built a deployment and configuration automation platform serving both operations teams and service providers, and developed extensible quality and monitoring frameworks adopted broadly across the developer organization. Successfully launched nine service provider services including CMDB, IPAM, disaster recovery management, and system monitoring. Built a strong DevOps culture that brought development and operations meaningfully closer together. Fun fact: Our division was acquired by OVH North America in May 2017 - a great testament to the value we created together as a team!

Joined Apple to build the Siri cloud infrastructure from the ground up, one of the most ambitious and time-compressed infrastructure deployments in the history of consumer technology. Siri launched with the iPhone 4S in October 2011 and instantly needed to scale to support hundreds of millions of iOS devices worldwide. Led global teams across Infrastructure Architecture, Automation, Deployment, and Monitoring. Deployed modular, lights-out data centers globally, factory-built, assembled on-site, and live with code running in record time, while driving deployment efficiency down dramatically with each successive rollout. Engineered a custom IaaS automation platform to manage the ongoing operations of the cloud at massive scale. Also led the server-side implementation of the first commercial Multipath TCP (MPTCP) application ever released, a protocol innovation that improved Siri's network resilience across handoffs between Wi-Fi and cellular, and has since become foundational to Apple's networking stack. In many ways, this role was the convergence of everything that came before: cloud infrastructure, data center operations, automation, networking, and large-scale platform engineering, brought together under extraordinary time pressure. Delivering the needed capacity on time, on budget, and at a quality that meaningfully improved the Siri experience for millions of users remains one of the proudest achievements of my career.

Truveo was one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. I joined as the first outside resource brought in by the two founders, initially as a Scientific Advisory Board member, helping design and scale the video search infrastructure before the company was acquired by AOL in January 2006. What followed was five and a half years of extraordinary growth. I built the Truveo Cloud from the ground up and was promoted to Vice President in 2008, leading Operations, the API Developer Program, and Mobile Software Development. Over that period we scaled the platform to 1,700 Linux systems, indexed over 750 million videos, and handled 3.3 billion monthly queries, while growing the team from 6 to 37 people. The API platform became one of the most widely used video search services on the web, powering 600+ active partner accounts including Microsoft Live Video Search, MSN, CNET, Univision, SFGate, Orange, and Tiscali, reaching over 70 million unique visitors per month at peak. Beyond infrastructure, I closed key business development deals, contributed to the iPhone app, and sold Truveo's first Video Sponsored Links campaigns, helping establish the ad monetization model. One of the things I'm most proud of is successfully integrating Truveo into AOL's broader product ecosystem while preserving the startup culture, creativity, and velocity that made the team exceptional in the first place.
