I can serve as an interim CTO, optimize the alignment of your teams for swift delivery, or facilitate your fundraising rounds. Each mission is unique and tailored to your Tech & Product challenges. I usually work on short periods or part-time on longer periods; remotely, in the Nantes region or hybrid (Paris, Brittany, Bordeaux, Lyon, etc.) As a transitional CTO/CTPO or consultant, I intervene notably for: 🔎 Software and organizational audits: I evaluate your current systems and organizational structure, proposing targeted recommendations to increase efficiency and effectiveness. 🚄 Team velocity optimization: Using user-centered methods adapted to your context, I restructure your internal organization for optimal performance. I can guide you on the path to agility (any method, especially Shape Up); during the acquisition of another entity or on remote/asynchronous organization. 🧭 Tech & Product Strategy: I accompany your company in the development of its technological vision, emphasizing clear objectives and measurable results. Particularly useful at the start or to improve your relationship with current or potential investors! As an architect: 🥷🏻 Emergency management: Whether it's launching a first product version or resolving performance issues, I intervene quickly to ensure the quality and efficiency of your operations. My expertise stack: React.js/Next.js - Python, Django Rest Framework, Flutter But also... 🎓 Tech leader mentoring: I offer advice and custom training to your leaders, helping them overcome their challenges and develop strong, motivated teams. Particularly useful for upskilling your leaders, over 3 to 12 months.

My primary objective was to lead the Product & Tech efforts (6 developers, 1 PO + CPO) and organize this entire LegalTech start-up (19 people). The entirely remote working setup called for adept coordination and communication. Key actions included: 🔶 Implementation of the Shape Up methodology to boost team efficiency and be more product-focused ⏱️ Transition to an asynchronous way of working, in order to maximize flexibility and results ⛵ Delivery of the product's first version (V1) 💪🏻 Organization and motivation of the team for a collaborative work environment 🫂 Facilitation of a seminar, to address structural issues, align everyone and kick-off the v1 efforts ⚙️ Craftsmanship culture setup: moved to trunk-based development, CI/CD efforts, architectural & practices improvements. Beyond the technical and product aspects, I paid close attention to the human factor. I worked closely with the team to foster a motivating and collaborative atmosphere. I am proud to say that at the end of my tenure, the Product & Tech department was well-organized, efficient and much more confident. This full-time mission illustrates my commitment as an interim CTO to not just address technical and product challenges but also to foster a positive team culture, leading to better productivity and overall success.

Principal Software Engineer - Craftsmanship

As Principal Software Engineer in Craftsmanship, my mission was to advocate and expedite the application of top-tier craftsmanship practices. In doing so, I aimed to empower squads to fulfill their objectives more effectively, amplify their impact, and enhance their work enjoyment. Accomplishments: 🤯 Conducted audits for 25 squads and organized over 10 retrospectives and agile workshops 📊 Developed a comprehensive report pinpointing crucial areas for improvement at both individual squad level and across the entire Tech department 💬 Presented findings to the full Tech Executive team, receiving extremely positive feedback 🆕 Launched initiatives to foster knowledge sharing amongst 250 staff members, such as book clubs, unconferences, and internal meetups Why was this critical? In order to maintain competitiveness and outperform in the market, organizations must maintain a rapid pace. At the crux of this acceleration is software (*). It's a fact that top-performing software engineering teams outpace their peers by an order of magnitude and this astonishing performance is attributed to the adoption of the correct methodologies (DevOps, CI/CD, agility, etc.). This challenge is especially tough within a rapidly scaling start-up environment like D-EDGE. (*) "Accelerate" - by Gene Kim, Jez Humble, and Nicole Forsgren

As the inaugural Engineering Manager at D-EDGE, my role spanned across various high-stake projects over time. Key accomplishments: 💪🏻 Orchestrated the operational aspects of merging an Accor department into D-EDGE (75+ personnel), which entailed grasping their full architecture and organization, acclimatizing them to a startup environment, ensuring their productivity remained intact, and sustaining production efficiency. 🐘 Successfully expanded the Nantes Tech office from a one-person operation to a team of 30 from 2020 to 2022 - a challenging feat achieved during the COVID pandemic in the hospitality sector. ⚡ Our Nantes teams set the benchmark for velocity, driven by our persistent efforts in refining our agile methodologies (I transitioned several teams to a Shape-Up-like approach). 📈 Scaled a core team from 5 to 25 members in under six months. 🛠️ Conceived and steered workshops for over 25 participants. My responsibilities were vast, with a primary focus on cross-team collaboration and process improvement within the engineering & product teams. Key areas included: * Managing and planning critical projects. * Enhancing engineering processes, particularly with regard to production and velocity. * Supervising and mentoring Lead Developers and future Engineering Managers. * Facilitating workshops, cross-departmental communication, and more.
D-EDGE Tech - Meetup co-organizer

I led the Tech Meetup work-group. We hosted talks about the technical and organizational aspects of scaling up a tech startup. Not only did I co-organize these meetups, but I also presented the following ones: * Segregating the view and the brains in JS, with the use of state machines and state charts (using XState) * Onboarding developers remotely * Gender inequality in Tech With over 20 meetups successfully organized, the knowledge and insights shared have benefited numerous tech professionals. -- Success leads to growth and growth leads to new levels of technical challenges. How to manage the growth of our systems while continuing to increase quality? Complexity expands dramatically, oldest components become legacy, heterogeneity increases between generations, and maintaining knowledge, agility, quality of code and architectures becomes a challenge. Let’s share our experiences on all this! At D-EDGE, we believe that our role is to share our experience, expertise and vision. Once a month, we organise online and in-person debates on a wide range of topics around growth, and what it entails regarding technology.

Believing in the power of self-reflection and realignment, I embarked on a sabbatical journey. This wasn't simply a break, but a transformative opportunity to connect with my dreams, introspect deeply, and explore new perspectives. In 2022, I embraced the life of a Digital Nomad, a long-held aspiration. This experience allowed me to experience living abroad, to lift constraints and enjoy the freedom of exploration. This included honing my photography skills (check out my work at @aurelienmeunier.photo on Instagram or directly on my website at https://aurelienmeunier.photo) while continuing to freelance, mentoring developers, and offering full-stack coding and software architecture analysis. From the breathtaking landscapes of the Faroe Islands, my routine has taken a delightful shift: 🥾 Hiking several times a week in Scotland, the Faroe Islands, the Açores and Madeira 📷 Capturing the beauty of nature with my camera 💻 Engaging with work at a balanced pace, coding for fun, freelancing as a Software Architect ☕ Unwinding at coffee shops, and supporting my entrepreneurial wife on her exciting venture.

As a Lead Software Engineer, I orchestrated operations across diverse teams and products, showcasing versatility and leadership. My portfolio spanned two distinct products: * A comprehensive platform with 500+ connectors, developed by a 7-member international team spread across France, Tunisia, and India. * A new product, crafted in React.js & .NET, for which I recruited a small team in Nantes, collaborated with a UX-designer, organized & built everything from scratch. While new to D-EDGE and getting used to the changes that COVID brought into both our personal & profesional lives, I managed to grew rapidly my network within the company & took on many responsibilities. * Worked directly under the CTO, using my personal experience to suggest organizational changes such as building a Tech Career Path, creating a Meetup work-group, initiating Open-Source within the company, adopting better agile practices * Building relationships in the Nantes ecosystem to give some visibility to D-EDGE These came in addition to my daily responsibilities as a Lead Developer: * Conducting rigorous code reviews to maintain high standards and catch potential issues early. * Overseeing technical architecture changes & evolution * Organization & Management of my teams and nurturing their development. * Keeping an eye on the production & ensuring that communication flows. Given the perimeter of one of my products, this was a very important responsibility (with hundreds of connectors with external systems, there is always something to tend to) * Engaging in hands-on coding, predominantly using React and .NET.

I spearheaded the launch and growth of Digeetis, an innovative development studio specializing in the creation of interactive software applications. In 2012, our unique focus on native applications distinguished us in the marketplace, particularly within the health, publishing, and university sectors. Launching Digeetis was a plunge into uncharted waters - two fresh graduates (my co-founder and myself) embarking on a startup venture in France, a landscape not yet familiar with the concept of the 'Startup Nation'. We began our journey without a significant network, prior experience, or external funding. Thus, it was crucial for us to strive for profitability from the very outset. Looking back, I take pride in the team we built - at our peak, we had a headcount of 8, and after two challenging yet rewarding years, we successfully sold our business to Gutenberg Technologies. During my tenure at Digeetis, my responsibilities spanned multiple aspects: 💼 Business Development: I took a hands-on approach in cultivating relationships with clients and prospects, and expanded our industry network. These efforts significantly fueled our startup's growth. 🔧 Product Development: I was heavily involved in the software development process, providing strategic direction and ensuring the high quality of our deliverables. Our emphasis on superior user experience (UX) and high-quality applications set us apart from the competition. 🚀 Entrepreneurship: In navigating the challenges typical of entrepreneurship, I tackled a wide array of tasks - from solving day-to-day problems to crafting long-term strategic plans - ensuring the company's continuous growth and success. 📈 Acquisition: The successful acquisition of Digeetis by Gutenberg Technologies in 2014 was a testament to the value and quality we had built into our company. It marked a gratifying conclusion to my journey with Digeetis, encapsulating the fruits of our labor and dedication.
