<h3>Design Automation Tool (MATGEN)</h3>Context / Client Need : During my apprenticeship as a Design Engineer in the aerospace sector, the design office faced time-consuming and repetitive tasks related to the creation of 3D insulation components (thermal-acoustic blankets). Manual modeling under CATIA significantly impacted productivity and increased the risk of inconsistencies.Mission : My objective was to develop a solution to automate the generation of these components, improve efficiency, and ensure better configuration management and data consistency.Solution Provided : I designed and developed a VBA-based tool (MATGEN) that automatically generates 3D insulation models in CATIA using data from an Excel database. Key contributions included:<ul><li>Development of parametric 3D generation workflows</li><li>Automation of CATIA configuration management using VBA</li><li>Structuring and integration of a technical Excel database</li><li>Creation of user documentation and training of internal teams</li><li>Project resulted in a patent filing</li></ul>Duration : Multi-year development as part of a 3-year apprenticeship (2022–2025), with iterative improvements and deployment phases.Impact (Quantified Results) :<ul><li>Up to 35x reduction in design time for specific tasks</li><li>Significant improvement in design consistency and data reliability</li><li>Reduction of manual errors and repetitive work</li><li>Increased productivity of the design office</li><li>Adoption of the tool by internal users after training</li></ul>
