About me

Intro

I’m a Lead Data Scientist and Analytics Engineer with a business-first approach to data, AI, and analytics. After stepping away from a promising professional water polo career at 18, I studied Business Administration and Marketing at HEC Montréal, then pursued a Master’s in Business Intelligence to combine business strategy, statistics, engineering, and computer science. Since 2017, I’ve worked across data science, analytics engineering, and product-facing data roles in SaaS, mobility, and Web3. I started at GSoft, building strong foundations in applied data science under the mentorship of Olivier Blais and Denis Larocque. At Heetch, during Covid, I improved driver bad-behavior detection systems that helped reduce cancellation-fee losses by hundreds of thousands of euros. Later, at Figment, during the Web3 and Crypto Winter period, I focused on process optimization, monitoring, analytics infrastructure, and cost-efficiency initiatives. One value that has followed me from high-level sports into my career is team-first mentality. I believe collective success matters more than individual recognition. Whether in sports or tech, I prioritize what the team or company needs most, even when it means stepping outside my role. This is why I was repeatedly trusted as captain and leader throughout my water polo career. A quote from a former coach — an Olympic bronze medalist — stayed with me: “There are two types of players: the good ones and the great ones. The good one is either the talented one that doesn’t train, or the less talented one that trains harder than others. The great ones are the ones that do both.” I’ve always identified with the work-harder type: not relying only on talent, but building the skills needed to serve the team. At Figment, I saw the team needed stronger analytics engineering capabilities, so I spent weekends learning DBT, Dagster, orchestration, analytics engineering workflows, and modern data modeling to fill that gap. The surf picture on my profile — riding a 3-meter wave in Bali above a coral reef — captures another part of who I am: staying calm under pressure. There is no room to panic; you commit, stay composed, and execute. Beyond the technical side, high-level sport, multicultural environments, and travel across 51+ countries shaped how I collaborate: competitive, open-minded, empathetic, and deeply committed to the team. I care about building reliable systems, solving meaningful business problems, and helping organizations make better decisions through data, and implementing engineering best practices in the age of AI

Promoted to Lead Data Scientist & Analytics Engineer in recognition of an expanded scope spanning data science, analytics engineering, and data platform development. Driven by continuous learning and a strong ownership mindset, I independently upskilled in Dagster and dbt to help strengthen Figment’s data capabilities and accelerate the team’s roadmap. Beyond my core data science responsibilities, I proactively took on analytics engineering initiatives, building and orchestrating reliable data pipelines, improving data models, and helping scale the company’s analytics infrastructure. This title change reflects the impact of consistently stepping outside my formal role, embracing new challenges, and doing what was needed to help the team and business succeed. It marks an important milestone in my career as I continue to grow as a multidisciplinary data leader operating across the full data lifecycle. Significant milestones for the team included the implementation of several automated data testing frameworks that proactively identified data inaccuracies before they reached stakeholders or customers. These initiatives significantly reduced Snowflake costs across the data science and data engineering teams, improved pipeline performance, enabled fully automated and smarter workflows, reduced duplicated runs and redundant code, and ensured the adoption of data engineering best practices and optimization standards.

As the inaugural Data Scientist at Figment, I spearheaded the establishment of the data team, laying the foundation for a data-driven culture across the organization. Data Infrastructure Development: Architected and implemented comprehensive product data pipelines, transforming raw data into actionable insights with DBT. This enabled seamless integration with BI tools, empowering data accessibility and utilization across departments. Key Pipeline and Dashboard Creation: Developed and maintained the company’s three most critical pipelines and dashboards, including API usage, Validators, and AUS. Customer Reporting Automation: Led the automation of customer reporting by streamlining data extraction from various sources such as Block Explorers (APIs, scraping, indexers). Replaced manual, spreadsheet-based processes with an automated, reliable, and scalable solution, significantly enhancing operational efficiency and accuracy. Quality Assurance and Process Improvement: Proactively identified and resolved numerous bugs across the organization by advocating for and implementing production-grade code standards. This initiative elevated the quality of deliverables in the data science team.

Education

2017 - 2018

1 year 1 month

2014 - 2017

3 years 1 month

Grade: GPA: 3.57

2006 - 2013

6 years 9 months
