During this internship, the focus was on enhancing the field preparation experience for geologists by integrating augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technologies. The primary objective was to develop and evaluate various transition techniques between AR and VR, ensuring a seamless and engaging user experience. Specifically, I designed four transition techniques that facilitate the shift from a first-person view in AR to a bird's-eye view in VR. The goal was to determine which techniques best help users retain their sense of location and camera direction before and after the transition. The project involved research exploration, prototype design, implementation, and user study evaluation design.
