I produced and directed my first play, Hardcross from scratch, without any external funding. Apart from directing the play, I was also responsible for auditions, sourcing a venue, marketing and box office. I worked alongside a Stage Manager and a Set Designer to create a visually captivating show. Our first performances were at The London Theatre for 2 nights, and another round ran from 5-9 July at the Bread and Roses. Both performances were hugely successful. We received a very favourable reaction from the audience, who were captivated by the twists in the plot, and enjoyed the humour in the dark story.

Queen's Opera is an emerging opera company that intends to perform operas in their original language. As the producer of Turandot, our latest production, my responsibilities included liaising with the cast and crew, writing press releases and contacting newspapers and websites to advertise our show, liaising with graphic designers, discussing the rehearsal schedule with the performance venue, and dealing with occasional conflicts and arguments.

I worked as a director of two short plays written by emerging playwrights, on a show that focused on new writing. LonDram is an inclusive, international theatre company that provides a platform for contemporary writers to perform their plays. My experience as a director taught me the basic skills of instructing a group of actors, as well as the importance of deadlines and teamwork. I am also aware of the technical aspects of theatre.

I worked alongside the director of a play about the comic history of England. I contributed to the staging of the show through suggestions for stage directions. I was also responsible for choosing and sourcing the costumes. As a Stage Manager, I was responsible for preparing and ushering the actors onto the stage, as well as keeping the morale up behind the scenes.
