Introduction

(More than) a few words about me: What a journey it’s been! 20 years ago, when I decided to turn my back to teaching and join a big videogame company, I had no idea I was simply paving the way to where I am now, a certified coach! Over the years, I got to work with wonderful people from across the globe as a manager, mentor, advisor, and employee representative. With hindsight, I understand the privilege I was granted to try all these methods as I can now safely say I made the right choice for myself by choosing the coaching avenue. I now use these 20 years of experience in my new field. I know the internal - and external - struggles of working hard in a fast-paced, international environment, because I went through them. I remember the frustration of not being able to figure out whether I should cancel a trip to my mom’s just to finish a presentation, why I was stalling professionally, whether I and my work were “enough”... “Imposter syndrome”, “workaholic”, “passive aggressive” … these labels were applied to me over the years, till I realized that I - and anyone - had choices. It is not a crystal clear, easy-to-grab list of options, but it’s there. The first was four years ago, when I decided to turn a page and write a new one abroad. I took this opportunity to revamp my work/life balance, my social circles, my hobbies and priorities. I started diving into NLP, TA, Positive Psychology, Emotional Intelligence, Mindfulness. The second was last year, when I decided to say goodbye to the company that trusted me for close to two decades and go back to school because I knew I was not exactly where I was supposed to be, doing what I was supposed to do. I then changed my old labels for the ones my new people and clients gave me: “Curious – challenging – supportive – good listener – peppy – calming – understanding – reliable – trustworthy - respectful” Coaching is a great gift you can give yourself: a safe mental and physical space, a moment solely dedicated to you and your success. Your coach will accompany and support you in your journey to well-being, performance, self-realization. Without judgement. Coaching puts you back in your just place, whether at home or within a team. As one of my clients put it: « Our sessions helped me spend a pleasant moment and regain self-confidence. I also learned to free myself from the anxiety I used to feel each time I’d communicate with my son. In the end, I have gained and adopted a certain “zen attitude” in my life. I feel more serene now.” It all starts with you, as it all started with me.
