Context: project manager for Octopus, open source software for microfinance institutions Mission: - Management of the offshore development team (4 programmers/consultants): general administration, HR, finances and planning - Software development monitoring following agile methods: general organization, definition and discarding of internal processes (regarding communication with users in particular) - Business development and external communication (partenarships, community management) Main challenges: involve users in the continous improvement process implied by the lean methodology and find a market fit for the chosen business model

Context: cooperation program of the French and Spanish ministries of Foreign Affairs; work time split between the cultural center of the local university (UNSCH) and an indigenous NGO (Chirapaq) Achievements: - Cultural center: conducted an organizational audit and assisted with event logistics - NGO: organized workshops and assisted in the production of 8 radio programs to promote the UN Declaration on the rights of indigenous peoples Main challenge: produce culturally appropriate material in a region heavily hit by terrorism and counting an important indigenous population

Context: SPINOZA knowledge management project at the French ministry of Defense (Contrôle général des armées) Achievements: - Set up workgroups and animated workshops to assess user needs - Defined the functional specifications for a new knowledge management system - Issued propositions for reorganizing the documentation center and managing change Main challenge: pinpoint user needs and focuse on what could bring the client maximal value

Context: UNHCR study on the living conditions of internally displaced people located in a specific site close to the Sudanese border (9,000 people originating from about 80 villages) Achievements: - Set up the database, requests and analytical tools for analyzing collected data - Published a report compiling all information and output statistics - Created tools for long-term field monitoring of population movements Main challenges: analyze extremely unreliable data in a context of isolation and political instability

Context: robotics research project at the Joint French-Japanese Research Laboratory, "developing a method for computing the reachable space of a robotic mechanism" Mission: create mathematical algorithms and implement them in C++ Main challenge: build effective algorithms handling the case of multi-body mechanisms

Context: long-term development project in the Pamirs' Murghab base (1 expatriate, 20 nationals) Mission: - Institutional relationships, reporting and communication - Logistics and organization (created databases and stock management tools) - Project monitoring and evaluation (hydraulics, construction, culture and ecotourism) Main challenge: have an impact on the lives of the local population with very limited resources, in a context of isolation, profound cultural differences and strong political constraints
