• Architecture summary: A cutting edge, greenfield architecture, using pulumi C# for IAC and github actions, to deploy to (predominantly) AWS. Most services are hosted natively on lambdas and communicate via API’s or messages and event based notifications between the services. A mix of postgres SQL and dynamo DB for persistence, and storing resources in AWS S3. Also using fargate tasks to manage container orchestration for service deployment. Logs written to cloudwatch were monitored and queried via Grafana. • Working 50% on product 50% on infrastructure and dev-ops • Built an in depth Grafana dashboard to give real time feedback on the system health, and set up alerts to immediately notify us of any production 5XX’s • Migrated a file based user claims system, to DynamoDB-based system using OAuth and being used by all of our users, which uses our Azure active directory tenant as an external authenticator before using a ticket received handler pattern to build up the claims principal. • To work in parallel with the above azure auth system, I build another external auth provider using Auth0 for our customer portal to provide SSO or passwordless login • Built a microservice to handle notification delivery, as well as templating, using fluid templates, and delivering to Slack and mailjet clients. On top of this I implemented a websocket client in the frontend which could directly communicate with this microservice which allowed us to deliver real time toaster messages to our users. • Migrated all lambdas from using the host pattern to running the code natively • Adding a suite of smoke tests to ensure that message handler lambdas, and API lambdas are all building correctly on staging before deploying to prod (preventing many production incidents) • Migrated Pulumi IAC from using the Pulumi cloud backend for the staging stacks, to using S3 backend and saving the company around 50% in IAC costs (around 15,000GBP saving per year)

In my spare time, aside from my day job, I take on regular developer contracts in order to experiment with new technologies and refine my implementation practices: - Architected and engineered a cloud-based AI-powered chatbot, and a .Net MVC WebApp for a client to provide legal information about employment law & guidance around Covid-19 - Built, for a South African client, a prototype site that provided a cutting-edge interface and a database management interface for interacting and searching through ultra-endurance event results, which was the first of it's kind to combine and normalize the results of ultra-endurance events across different 'brands' - Built an e-commerce website and extended this with a web application that offered a simple interface sitting in front of a complex algorithm that was injected into the site via an IFrame to extend the capabilities of the limited e-commerce site provider's template - Built multiple web applications that provided an SMTP service to offer an alternative way for customers to contact the business instead of being limited to their e-commerce site providers limited built-in functionality for emailing and messaging clients - Was brought in as a consultant for an AWS & Java-based web application for a Pre-Seed stage startup in order to modernize the application and advise on the next steps - Co-engineered a large cloud-based MVC application for a startup that is being trialled by huge names such as KFC & McDonalds

- Within a small tech department (<15), I regularly showed proactivity and ability to take initiative for the team, which led to me wearing many ‘hats’ such as a BA, QA, project lead, automation engineer, backend dev, frontend dev and scrum master, learning valuable lessons from each role. - I conducted and refined the team’s initial adoption of scrum. - I would be responsible for the induction and guidance of new developers in the team. - I led the implementation of Hangfire.io for a new background task management tech. - I led 4 developers on a .NET project to take the old XAML-Windows application from an out-of-date platform to a brand-new cloud-based C# MVC solution. - Fulfilled many support and feature tasks in the typescript-Angular-.Net Framework-SQL tech stack
