During the three month cooperation with HellasNet, the software developing branch of Forthnet Group, a well-known communications company in Greece now called NOVA, I assisted the development of CMT (Content Management Tool) working in close relationship with an elite team of company web developers. CMT is a modular application with incorporated security that gives the opportunity to the customer to purchase only the required modules. The application – which is used until now – was developed in ASP with SQL Server 2000.

The main role was Web Database Administrator and Senior Web Developer. I was responsible for ensuring a smooth database operation and control within the web teams, as well as developing ASP code. In addition, I was responsible for liasing with the Client/Interface team with regards to database issues to ensure the database compatibility inside the organisation. Previous roles include Projects Team Manager for almost a year at which time I was running a small team with end-to-end web site support. My team was then absorbed by other web teams and I was promoted to a Web Database Administrator while being a Senior Web Developer.

Being the first working experience after my MSc graduation, the main role was Junior Developer. I was sent to London as a subcontractor, working in close relationship with a sister company in Sunbury-on-Thames. The application was similar to VB and was used by the Royal Bank of Scotland. I was responsible for developing code within a team of 3. It was at that time I got the first business knowledge about databases, how to setup tables, relationships etc. During the breaks that I was at the HQ in Bradford, West Yorkshire, I was assisting the internal development teams with COBOL as Spectrum had a lot of contracts with the local government (Bradford Metropolitan District Council, Leeds City Council etc)
