Permanent Recruitment Director
Caledonia Capture Ltd
Dec 2024 - Present
1 year 11 months
Aberdeenshire, Scotland, United Kingdom · On-site
Caledonia Capture Ltd will bring a collaborative approach to growing companies’ teams to enable growth and assist in bringing their goals to fruition. Moving away from the usual transactional approach which can lead to ineffectual hires hurting both the company reputation and the candidate experience. We aim to provide a more consultative approach to recruitment by taking a little time at the beginning of the process to understand the company, your culture and the type of candidate you require rather than just matching a CV to a job spec., past experience has taught us that quite often the job spec. supplied will be a generic/historical one that only provides a fraction of the information on what the candidate needs to be successful. By spending a little time at the beginning this can save a lot of time in the hiring process including only having to review candidates that actually fit the brief. Supported by a network of industry experts we are ideally placed to assist in the process of sourcing those ideal candidates. Opening their personal networks to start conversations with those hard-to-reach passive candidates and because we’ve spent time at the beginning understanding the role and person you are looking for, we can knowledgably discuss your opportunity with these candidates, win-win all round. Service Offerings: - Permanent Executive Search - Permanent Contingent Search - Permanent Contingent Please get in touch to find out more or discuss your recruitment requirements.

Senior Recruitment Consultant
Hamilton James & Bruce
Mar 2001 - Oct 2002
1 year 8 months
Sydney NSW, Australia
Responsible for developing a profitable business for HJB in Sydney, Australia in a number of market sectors including Government, Corporate, Banking & Finance and Technology. Successfully grew revenues from a zero start to over $1.8 million in an 18-month period maintaining a profit margin of over 18%. This rapid growth was achieved through the careful planning and execution of a strategy to address the global downturn in the recruitment market and the concentration on the Government market. Although this market proved difficult to penetrate as HJB had no previous experience through persistence and relationship building I managed to secure HJB selected preferred supplier status with a number of the larger Government departments including Education, Health, Police and Housing. Prior to my appointment HJB had made no placements within this sector. I placed 25 contractors on long-term assignments (1-3 years) within a 9-month period. I was also instrumental on HJB’s inclusion on a project with MLC part of the National Australia Bank to supply high-end IT professionals (Project & Programme Managers) for their Financial Planning Project. This inclusion was due to the previous high quality service that I had provided on past assignments. I placed 7 long-term contractors (9-12 months) with an average day rate of $1,200 per day at a margin of 16%. This role also included an element of retained work including senior level assignments for large corporate clients in the financial sector for example AMP and the National Australia Bank. HJB provided this service on a 30% of fee up-front, 30% at shortlist stage & 40% at acceptance stage.

Business Development/Account Management in the IT market. The Apple Centre was bought by Abtex who in turn were bought by Compel. Compel PLC – Account Manager / Business Development Initially employed in a Business Development role to increase Compel’s share of sales to the SME Market. I exceeded targets within this role but due to a change in Compel’s policy the decision was made that the sales focus was to be changed to dealing only with clients who had an annual IT spend of over $100K. Due to the limited no. of such clients in the Aberdeen area my role changed to that of Account Manager. I took responsibility for Scottish Hydro-Electric PLC this role involved technical validation of proposals / tenders, meeting with key members of the SHE Management Team and maintaining the agreed service levels. Abtex – Account Manager / Business Development Employed in a Business Development role to increase Abtex’s share of sales to the SME Market in the Aberdeen area.
