Deployment of an automated and scalable monitoring infrastructure for remote machines. The goal was to centralize and persist system metrics (CPU, memory, network) using a Prometheus, Thanos, and Grafana stack, with a fully automated GitLab CI/CD pipeline and modular provisioning via Terraform and Terragrunt. ⚙️ Technical Steps • Set up multiple GitLab Runners dedicated to test, build, and production environments. • Built a complete CI/CD pipeline with linting, Terraform plan, tests, apply, rollback, and alerting. • Created reusable Terraform modules for deploying monitoring agents, Thanos services, S3 buckets, and more. • Used Terragrunt to manage multiple environments and simplify module reuse. • Deployed Prometheus + Thanos (Sidecar, Store Gateway) for metrics collection, persistence, and central querying. • Containerized agents with Docker and deployed them across distributed machines. • Integrated Grafana with custom dashboards powered by Thanos data sources. • Configured a secure NGINX Ingress with automated TLS via Let’s Encrypt. • Managed DNS routing with AWS Route 53 for service access. • Enabled automatic metrics upload to S3 using Thanos Sidecar. • Authored technical guides, deployment procedures, and architectural diagrams for internal documentation.
