Jochem Franse

In this role I am part of the internal innovation team of Unicef Nederland. Together with the team I am responsible for the incremental innovation of the organisation, by facilitating that what is needed for this. Besides that the team is also working on projects more independent of the rest of the organisation. Within my role I focus on prototyping and designing.

Bit of energy is an educational game for, amongst other things, children in primary schools. The game is designed to raise awareness about energy usage amongst children and their parents. With this, we hope to create a long-term change of behaviour towards energy consumption.

I was the UX designer within the innovation centre of the insurance company of Vivat (Reaal, Zwiterleven, Nowgo, Actiam). Within the team I was first of all facilitating a multitude of projects, with the aim of developing the loose ideas that came in towards a minimum viable product with a devoted team that worked on it. At the same time I was the reference point for all things UX, that were done within the team and was facilitating design sprints were needed. I have learned to prototype quickly, I used mostly the adobe creative suite and adobe xd for this. Within the longer projects I quickly developed in stakeholder management and in my facilitating skills.

The UNiD Magazine is the Magazine of study association Industrial Design Lucid. Together with a team of approximately 28 members the committee works to make 4 editions per year. As Chief External Affairs I was responsible for all the external contacts; arranging interviews and advertorials, as well as for the execution of the budget of the committee.

I did an internship at one of the fastest growing Dutch startups: Joylent. At the time I started there it was a simple one-product company, and by the time I finished my internship they grew into a multiple product organisation and they were building their third production line to keep up with customer demand. This was a highly dynamic company. This internship taught me the powers of design thinking. I noticed that it was only I that had the superpower of defining user motivations. I feel that I helped the company forward with making them better understand and work with their customers.

As the Chairman of the Study Association of the faculty Industrial Design on the Technical University Eindhoven I am responsible for making and executing the associations policy as well as communicating with the members, which are the students and staff of the faculty, and all external parties as the representative of the students of the faculty.
