Launch of the "Organic vs GMO" exhibition in the presence of José Man Lius, a visual artist. How can we inform, unveil, and condemn the chemical treatments used on the apples we eat? This Bio Art experiment is the culmination of 12 months of observation and 7 years of preservation. Apples no longer perish; they stabilize over time, resembling taxidermy sculptures. The "Organic vs GMO" project employs the apple to question the evolution of the mass-consumed food products. The practice of scarifying the fruit's skin alters its aging process, allowing me to analyze and compare, from an almost scientific standpoint, the differences in the decay rate of a plant. But scarification is not just a scientific act; it's also a combative stance: it echoes the tribal tattoo practices of the Oceanic people (such as the Maoris), and the scarification and social mutilation customs in Africa (like the Moose in Ghana or other ethnic groups in Burkina Faso). Therefore, the fruit in "Organic vs GMO" is approached like the identity card of the body in many cultures: it becomes a canvas for a design, a declaration, a fight.
