– Headed up the commercial team for the newly re-launched Wisden Cricket Monthly magazine and wisden.com. – The role involved securing new business by making contact with senior-level contacts, retaining old business and ensuring the team was motivated and target driven. – The key to ensuring the success of these aspects was having an inquisitive nature, establishing the client's needs and then matching our portfolio back to the client. – I was heavily involved in generating traffic for the new website thus improving the digital offering to clients. Involved running internal-led campaigns and client-led campaigns, including using our vast social media channels. – Day-to-day I used a CRM system to keep myself, and the team organised. – Other tools I regularly used include Google Analytics, Twitter Analytics, Facebook Insights and Instagram Business. These help ensure we monitor and over-deliver on client campaigns.

Commercial Executive

TriNorth

Aug 2011 - Mar 2013

1 year 8 months

– TriNorth is a very hands-on company and offers great opportunities to work in several facets of the business. This role has enabled me to try my hand at writing product reviews, being a photographer, event organiser and revisit my video production skills. – I started working across the TriNorth portfolio, predominantly focusing on cricketing assets. Having gained a solid grasp of the Media industry from my previous role, at the prestigious worldwide brand Haymarket, I was able to expand my knowledge into the sporting arena. – Initially I focused on bespoke print options, with smaller elements of digital, as TriNorth developed its' own digital assets. Having key knowledge of digital websites- in a commercial sense, I was able to help develop these assets and nurture them into the thriving products they are. – Early on I was tasked with gaining in-depth knowledge about the key industry retailers and manufacturers to integrate myself into the market and become a key contact at TriNorth. This involved relationship building, face-to-face meetings and attending key sporting events regularly. – In my first full year working on the title All Out Cricket I brought in 40% of overall revenue for the title, across all advertising platforms, print and online. – The role has helped me develop my time management skills further, with a much higher level of autonomy, still bound by the pressurised environment of print deadlines.

Commercial Executive

Haymarket Media Group

Feb 2010 - Jul 2011

1 year 6 months

– I worked across the Brand Media portfolio, including industry famous titles such as Brand Republic, PR Week, Event, Marketing and Campaign. Working across those brands gave me great insight into the Media industry. – I sold many bespoke advertising solutions both in print and online across all of these titles. That included handling big sporting and consumer clients, such as UEFA and Coca Cola. – My track record was proven, I maximized revenue by growing existing accounts and generating new business across the entire portfolio. This was done through relationship building, face-to-face meetings, group presentations and attending networking events. – My time at Haymarket gave me confidence when dealing with all levels of seniority. It may have been negotiating a deal with an MD, liaising with a HR assistant to arrange deadline details or working closely with designers to create recruitment advertising campaigns. Online I was responsible for SEO aspects of vacancies, ensuring copy was concise and engaging to achieve desired results. – The role gave excellent time management skills, whilst under extreme pressure. The role involved using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel on a daily basis, to create various technical and creative documents and presentations.
