Main optical R&D engineer in a growing start-up accounting for more than 30 employees. Developing a new prototype for the optical detection of microplastics with higher analysis speed and lower cost than existing technologies, my main responsibilities include: - Conducting research to identify innovative technologies for microplastics detection, and compare them with the present solutions on the market. - Opto-mechanical design for microscopy and spectroscopy solutions, ray-tracing simulations and CAD modeling - Developing machine learning algorithms in Python to analyze prototype data - Developing a GUI to interface with analysis instruments Involved in the process of microfluidic chips fabrication, I developed a Python-based User Interface to estimate the printing time of the multiphoton lithography based 3D printer for the chip molds. The software deals with stl files describing the 3D models. Involved in a project concerning photocatalysis in a microfluidics-based reactor, I developed a Python library to perform a ray-tracing simulation through a complex 3D model. The library allows to propagate rays in strongly absorbing medium. Technical experience and knowledge: Python for computer vision, GUI, data analysis and ray-tracing simulations (OpenCV, scikit-image, PyQt5, Tkinter, Pandas, PyVista, RayOptics); Optical aberrations simulations; NIR reflectance spectroscopy; Microfluidics chip desing; Micro-FTIR and micro-Raman Conducting market research to identify potential partners and clients

Working in the Group of Applied Physics - Biophotonics in a team counting two professors four post-docs and five PhDs. Gathering information from literature and developing theoretical predictions. Contributing with ideas for longer-term goals and for collaborations with other research groups. Defining short terms objectives and directly participating to the experiments, helping other PhDs building the optical set-ups, collecting and analysing data. Directly involved in four projects: - Super-resolution scanning microscopy in collaboration with Laboratoire Kastler Brossel and CaiLabs. - Frequency conversion of light using nanoparticles for microscopy and biological applications. - Two-photon absorption of quantum light for microscopy applications. - Principal investigator on a project about optical measurement of greenhouse gases in collaboration with ENEA and Uniroma 3. Teaching assistant in biophotonics and general physics for biology.

- Supervised by three professors in a team of fifteen people, I worked closely with a post-doc, another PhD for the last year and several interns on one main experimental project regarding the generation and detection of multimode squeezing. - Practical work on the optical bench designing and optimising the set-up. Interfacing optical instruments with LabView. - Collaboration with a group in Lille concerning theory to predict experimental results using MATLAB simulations.
