Introduction

Matchers is a company that connects 'experts' offering training services to businesses. The objective of my mission is to assist them in their software transition. Currently, the back office is managed using various tools from the Google environment and AppScript. The project, therefore, consists of abstracting these dependencies behind an API. The API is developed with NestJs, to facilitate the migration of the AppScript scripts. The entire environment, including architecture, CI/CD, and development, needs to be designed and created. My role is to support them across all these areas, to ensure that their transition is both rapid and effective over time.

Stid is a company specializing in security solutions, including virtual cards (VCards) for building access control. My main role is to support the team in rewriting the product, while contributing significantly to the system architecture. I integrated concepts of Clean Architecture, Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and Test-Driven Development (TDD) into the development cycle. The product relies on secure infrastructure, including SQL Server with features like Always Encrypted and Row-Level Security (RLS), which were in place but untested before my arrival. I worked with the team to develop integration testing tools that validated these features, in addition to following a TDD methodology for the remainder of development. I also participate in the development of new features and ensure code quality by following industry best practices.

I have been working for over a year at QuarksUp, a Paris-based software company that creates HR-focused solutions for managing a range of functionalities including absence tracking, training, and hiring. The existing product, with over 20 years under its belt, is functional and stable but challenging to evolve due to the lifespan of the project and a relative the lack of implemented best practices. The team decided to rewrite the product, maintaining only the database, to operate two products in parallel—the new gradually replacing the legacy system. My mission is to rewrite the product or rather lay the foundations for the team to continue independently. My role entails creating the product's architecture, developing features, and training the team on this product and the associated best practices. The tech stack includes C# 7, Asp core, SQL Server, REDIS, modular monolithic architecture, clean code and architecture, CQS, DDD, and automated testing. The role poses many technical challenges and performance requirements. The system is highly customizable to users, allowing for a high degree of personalization, including workflows, event triggers, and role management with granular control. This position has allowed me to challenge my ideas with the team, scrutinize requirements and business needs, and also critique the proposed technical solutions.

As Tech Lead at DigitRe, I contributed to the development of 'TremplinX', a product designed to replace the company's existing solution 'Tremplin'. DigitRe provides IT solutions for CapiFrance and Optihome, focusing specifically on the real estate sector. When I joined the team, leadership roles weren't clearly defined, which created some uproar within the team. I worked to ease these frictions and create a more harmonious work environment, even though that was not my original responsibility. The product was built on a technology stack including microservices architecture, event driven development, CQRS, DDD, testing, clean code, MongoDB, ElasticSearch, Azure Bus, Azure Function, Docker, Portainer, C#, . Net Core and React 16. With part of the team, we participated in improving various processes such as planning, discovery workshops, retrospectives, demos and daily meetings. If the technical stack is at the top, the reality left much to be desired. These practices were not mastered, and generated much more problems than they solved. I made significant efforts to simplify processes, revamp the system, and show how the principles they were trying to implement should be applied. I managed to positively influence part of the team, but despite our best efforts to handle this situation, we had to abandon the product. Despite the unfortunate conclusion of the project, this experience allowed me to consolidate and apply my software mastery skills in a practical context. I learned valuable lessons from this position, including the need for effective leadership and the correct application of software development principles.

In my tenure at Agicap, a rapidly growing startup in the treasury management domain, I had the opportunity to deepen my understanding of craftsmanship, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Clean Code, and testing practices. This experience nicely complemented the theoretical expertise I had been developing independently in these areas. At Agicap, I primarily worked on connector development. The purpose of these connectors was to query data from other services, often billing services, through various methods such as APIs, files, or databases. This data would be crucial for treasury management. Sometimes, this process involved the use of OAuth authentication. The technology stack at Agicap was Angular 12, .Net core, SQL Server, EntityFramework, and Docker, which allowed me to further refine my skills in these areas. Despite the short-term nature of this role, the experience was highly valuable in giving me practical application to my theoretical knowledge, particularly in the realm of software craftsmanship.

From 2013 to 2021, I served as the technical lead at NCIS, a subsidiary of Septeo, a market leader employing over 1500 people. NCIS develops solutions for real estate negotiators in notarial studies and real estate agencies. I was in charge of a SaaS solution that manages property and contact portfolios (sellers, buyers/tenants, prospects, etc.) as well as publication and editing functionalities, including integrations with major real estate platforms like LeBonCoin and SeLoger. As the technical lead, my role encompassed software architect, team leader, and primary technical contact for other services. I also assumed a managerial and coaching role for the technical team, helping them develop and hone their skills. When we started, the product was based on C#, .NET 4, Silverlight, JavaScript, and SQL Server 2008. However, with Microsoft's discontinuation of Silverlight, we revamped the product with a new tech stack: Vue 2.6, TypeScript, C#/.Net core, SQL Server 2016, and RabbitMQ. We designed the product as a Progressive Web Application (PWA) capable of offline functioning and server synchronization, utilizing service workers and IndexedDB. Agility was at the core of our work. We incorporated various agile practices such as daily meetings, retrospectives, estimations, and CI/CD (on Azure DevOps), which were continuously refined over the years. This tenure strengthened my expertise in numerous areas, including technical leadership, agile methodologies, PWA development, and managing large-scale SaaS solutions. It solidified my proficiency in a wide range of technologies, from C#/.NET to Vue.js and TypeScript, and underscored my adaptability to shifts in the tech landscape.
