As I had skipped two grades, I took one year to favour rugby and throw myself into a professional career, but I did not work as an engineer because we had trainings twice a day, what prevented me from dedicating myself to my work. I have been playing as a flyhalf or mieldfielder.

Mission: training of operators in order to improve production line efficiency The production manager wanted to train the operators to react efficiently in case of machine breakdowns on the production line. Indeed, the machines had frequent failures and the operators were not skilled to fix them, so they had to wait the maintenance technician intervention, which was a substantial waste of time. I have studied machines technical guides and failures records, thus I have observed operators working methods. Finally, I have redacted a users’ instruction guide for the operators, then I have trained the operators to use this guide. I had recommended to skill some of them to fix the most frequent breakdowns (identified with Pareto method), but the production manager evaluated this training too expensive.

Mission: Redaction of procedures in the form of BPMN diagrams In order to renew ISO9001 standard, I had to update the procedures of the company in the form of diagrams. I have chosen BPMN nomenclature, which is instinctive and easy to read. For each process, as the former documents were obsolete, I had to meet each actor of it, ask them their tasks during the process, and then correct inconsistencies, for example when different people did several times the same action or when each one was believing a task had already been done. This redaction work has revealed many inconsistencies in the processes and has been a good way to improve them.

Mission: Validation of CIP (Cleaning In Place) One of the production lines (chocolate products) of this dairy maker had numerous contamination problems. I had to find the source of contamination and rectify it. Consequently, I have studied a massive documentation about CIP rules and restrictions, then I have followed the pipes of the cleaning circuit and I have noticed all the mistakes of the circuit (dead ends, incorrect turns, etc.). Finally, we have discovered that one of the machines (emulsifier) was not correctly cleaned by the operators, who used to leave a purge plug, which was responsible of stagnant waters in the emulsifier. After it, the contamination rate was much better so we did not changed the minor mistakes of the CIP circuit.
