The Industrial IT Software Engineer is responsible for developing and commissioning software applications resulting from the parameterization of standard software or the implementation of specific functionalities. He provides support, maintenance, and functional upgrades for installed IT systems. Context As a member of the Logistics department of the Sotfware Engineering Office (more precisely in Research & Development), I contributed to the evolution of OPAL, Alstef’s warehouse automation software. Under the supervision of the lead architect, I was involved in: - Algorithmic optimisation: Reworking and integration of a mathematical model (operational research) in Python/C++ for robotised order picking (daughter pallets). - Development in C++ of scheduling and optimisation algorithms, integrated into the OPAL software standard. - Software quality: Application of best practices (SonarQube, refactoring, modularity, documentation with Doxygen). - CI & testing: Implementation of business and automated tests (FAT/SAT), structuring of test cases (Jira, Selenium, JSON). Technical stack: C/C++, Python, SQL, Linux, Git/GitLab, Selenium, Jira. This hands-on apprenticeship offered concrete exposure to software development challenges in a high-reliability industrial environment, blending architecture, DevOps best practices, and logistics process optimization.
