A fast-growing e-commerce company with 85 employees was struggling to manage employee leave and attendance. Their existing process relied on email requests and manual Excel tracking, leading to:

Overlapping leaves

Missed approvals

Payroll confusion

HR burnout during peak holiday seasons

The company needed a centralized, simple, and error-free way to track leave requests and manage balances — without investing in an expensive HR system.
🎯 Mission
To design and implement a reliable leave management solution that would:

Reduce HR workload

Improve visibility for managers

Give employees clarity on their leave balance and approval status

Prevent errors in payroll processing

🛠️ Solution Provided
I led a 3-step solution using existing tools the company already used (Google Workspace + Excel):1. Audit & Mapping

Reviewed the leave policy and approval hierarchy.

Collected feedback from HR and employees about common issues.

2. System Creation

Created a Google Form for leave requests.

Built a connected Google Sheet that logged requests, leave types, and balances automatically.

Used conditional formatting and formulas to flag overlaps or exceeded balances.

Integrated email notifications to alert managers when a request was submitted.

3. Training & Rollout

Wrote a clear guide for employees and managers.

Conducted a 1-hour training session on Zoom for staff.

Trained the HR team to update leave balances monthly.

🛠️ Solution Provided
I led a 3-step solution using existing tools the company already used (Google Workspace + Excel):1.
