RTS is an audiovisual company belonging to the Swiss public group SRG SSR. This public institution employs over 6,500 people and generates an annual revenue of 1.6 billion CHF. I joined as an iOS developer to maintain and further develop the main application used by its various branches for Swiss audiences. Maintaining this application in a team of 4 developers (2 iOS and 2 Android) meant handling current as well as legacy codebases and technologies, such as: - Objective-C - Core Data - UIKit - Swift - SwiftUI All of those combined together, while still offering a great user experience and crash free sessions. I also very quickly became part of a new team of 9 developers (4 web, 3 Android, 2 iOS) working on a strategic initiative tied to the group’s streaming, live, and replay offerings. Founded in 2014, Proton is a well-known company that aims to build internet services centered around security and privacy. It has more than 100 million users, with a revenue exceeding 100 million dollars with a headcount of around 500 employees. I was a Senior Software Engineer in the iOS Mail/Inbox team, comprised of 3 to 5 developers and 1 QA tester. I have maintained, refactored, and developed the very popular Proton Mail for iOS app. By increasing quality and eliminating bugs, we were able to drive App Store ratings to more than 4.5 stars average. My daily work included, among other tasks: - New feature development in Swift and sometimes Objective-C for legacy code - A complete UI overhaul, if possible in SwiftUI - Refactoring of legacy and outdated parts of the codebase - Collaboration with product and other engineering teams - Focus on increasing stability and drastically reducing crashes I was part of the iOS Chapter and Security Champions within the company. I have significantly taken part in recruiting for my team as well as other teams. I also had the chance to be an Engineering Manager. I was able to lead the team and ship regularly new versions of the app. I have followed a feature roadmap and implemented an engineering one as well. Alohi is a start-up on the Geneva scene,. It's working to streamline communications and document flows for startups, businesses and enterprises. The company has more than 4 millions enterprises and teams trusting it. It puts great emphasis on compliance with international standards. (ISO 27001, HIPAA, PCI-DSS) I was there as an iOS Senior Software Engineer working on end user products, reaching more than several hundred thousands of users. I have fully rewrote the company's most popular application, FAX.PLUS, while dealing with constraints, notably: - Ad-hoc heterogeneous backend API - Full compatibility with the previous binary for a smooth update. I focused on: - Improving the product itself - Modernising the codebase and architecture - Implementing every existing feature and some new major ones - Bug fixing - Extracting hidden details and specifications that existed in the legacy source code. The rewrote update was met with great success. It ensured stability of the business for the most important product offered to users. This rewrite also meant we could then introduce new major features and take the application to new heights. In a consulting context, I have worked with the same team of 6 developers across those three companies because of acquisitions. I was a Software Engineer, working on iOS as well as back-end with Vapor. During our consulting time, I have helped multiple companies develop and improve their apps.
