Introduction

Kactus is a B2B marketplace offering a catalog of thousands of curated venues to our customers. On Kactus, our customers can enjoy the best booking experience for their offsite events. As a Tech Lead, my responsibilities range from contributing to the source code powering our platforms to taking an active part in technical decisions and architecture, as well as our technical roadmap. Some of the projects I led at Kactus include : - Moving from coffeescript to modern Javascript, using Webpack to transpile our code to the new ES6 standard - Total rework of our quoting engine. It was an ambitious project which required training of the team on React and Redux, which were the technologies chosen for that particular project, as it required a lot of user interactions and network communication - Improving some of our most critical endpoints, which respond twice as fast today, yielding an estimating server cost gain of 25% - Investigating serverless solution to solve technical challenges at the edge of our servers - Implementing new tools and development methods, in order to improve our error management, monitoring as well as workflow and collaboration as a team.
