I successfully spearheaded the development of sequence screens for an infuser pump within the medical device sector. This project was critically aligned with the IEC 62304 and IEC 62366-1 standards, emphasizing the importance of adhering to stringent medical software development and usability engineering guidelines. As a vital member of a 10-person team operating in an Agile/Scrum environment, my primary objective was to deliver the final version of the screen sequence fully developed, tested, and documented within a one-year time-frame. My contributions to the project included: • Leveraging OpenGL-ES for the development of the Human-Machine Interface (HMI), enhancing user interaction with the medical device. • Authoring detailed specifications and a verification plan to facilitate the outsourcing of medical device display screens, ensuring clarity and precision in subcontractor deliverables. • Conducting rigorous acceptance tests for outsourced components, guaranteeing their quality and integration readiness. • Integrating the OpenGL-ES based HMI with the core software of the medical device, ensuring seamless operation and user experience. The technical framework of the project involved: • Utilizing UML Object-Oriented Modelling with Enterprise Architect and employing design patterns to structure the software architecture effectively. • Programming in modern C++ with multithreading and STL on the Integrity OS, along with the application of OpenGL-ES and Scade for specialized development needs. • Working within an integrated development environment facilitated by tools such as Eclipse, Visual Studio, and Multi, and ensuring version control and continuous integration through SVN and Jenkins. This endeavour culminated in the successful, on-time, and within-budget achievement of all project milestones, showcasing my capabilities in navigating complex software engineering challenges in the highly regulated medical device industry.

I was tasked with a critical project in the robotics sector to facilitate communication between a Siemens Profinet controller and a Staubli Ethercat robot. This involved overcoming the challenge of integrating distinct industrial network protocols within an Agile/Scrum managed team of five. My actions included: • Acquiring foundational knowledge of Ethercat and Profinet networks. • Developing middleware to enable communication between Ethercat and Profinet devices, as well as Ethercat and sercos3 devices. • Conducting network profiling and reverse engineering to optimize communication flow and ensure compatibility. The project utilized a technical environment rich in C++ multithread programming with STL on the VxWorks real-time operating system, supplemented with scripting in Ruby, and tools such as Eclipse, Visual Studio, Tera Term, and Wireshark on platforms including Ubuntu, Win7, and Win XP. The results of my work were significant, successfully enabling protocol communication between Ethercat and Profinet devices and leading to the development of a solution that was certified compatible with Profinet. This achievement not only demonstrated my capability to address complex technical challenges in embedded software and network communication but also contributed to advancing interoperability within the field of robotics.

I made significant contributions to the aeronautics sector, particularly in the certification process of the AFDX backbone embedded in the A380 Airbus aircraft. My project aimed at optimizing the end-to-end delay bound for high-priority real-time flows within a non-preemptive context, addressing the challenge of excessive wiring due to over-approximated delay bounds. My role involved: • Conducting a comprehensive review and performance evaluation of the existing AFDX network certification work, identifying areas of over-approximation. • Developing a refined mathematical model to propose a tighter end-to-end delay bound. • Validating this model through implementation in a simulated environment. • Designing a switch queue management algorithm tailored to non-preemptive scheduling. Operating within a strict regulatory environment (DO178B), I utilized network calculus, C++ multithread programming with STL on Linux, Java SE, bash scripting, and embedded Linux on Arm7 processors. The outcome of my work demonstrated that it was possible to significantly reduce the volume of cabling in the AFDX network of the A380 Airbus without compromising operational safety. This achievement not only contributed to the efficiency and sustainability of aircraft design but also led to publications and presentations at international peer-reviewed conferences, establishing new benchmarks in the field of aeronautics networking.

I focused on a pioneering project aimed at addressing connectivity challenges faced by autonomous mobile robots during exploration missions. As part of a 4-member team, we tackled the issue of robots moving out of range from each other within an ad-hoc WIFI network, risking loss of connectivity in large geographic regions. My key contributions to the project included: • Acclimatizing to the WifiBot 4G robot and the Simbad robotic simulation environment to lay the groundwork for our development efforts. • Monitoring link quality utilizing the OLSR network protocol to ensure effective communication between robots. • Designing exploration algorithms that prioritize maintaining network connectivity among the fleet. • Employing the Simbad simulation environment for evaluating and selecting the most effective algorithm. • Implementing and rigorously testing the chosen algorithm directly on the WifiBot robot platform. The project harnessed a technical stack that included the WifiBot 4G robot powered by an Au1500 MCU, cross-compilation with Mipsel-gcc on Linux for the AMD Au1500 MIPS Processor, the Simbad robotic simulation environment for algorithm testing and selection, the OLSR protocol for monitoring network quality, and C for programming. This effort culminated in the successful mitigation of connectivity loss risks within a fleet of autonomous robots, enhancing their operational reliability in exploration missions. My role not only involved significant technical development and problem-solving but also contributed to advancing the field of robotic exploration by ensuring continuous interconnectivity through innovative algorithmic strategies.

I spearheaded a project aimed at enhancing edge image segmentation. This initiative sought to refine the contours between objects in segmented images, addressing the challenge of relatively thick contours that resulted from existing segmentation techniques. My role involved: • Conducting an extensive review of the state of the art in edge image segmentation to identify potential areas for improvement. • Developing an enhanced segmentation approach that focused on tightening the contours between objects, thereby achieving more precise segmentation results. • Implementing this approach and conducting validation tests using a worst-case image test-bench to ensure robustness and effectiveness. • Documenting the process and findings in a detailed technical document, contributing to the knowledge base of the team and potentially guiding future projects. The technical environment for this project included the use of multi-agent systems and fuzzy logic to achieve sophisticated image processing outcomes. I utilized C++ multithread programming with STL on Linux for the development work, alongside bash shell scripting for automation and efficiency improvements. The result of this project was a significant improvement in edge image segmentation, successfully obtaining sharper and more defined edges in segmented images. This achievement not only demonstrated my technical skills and innovative approach to problem-solving but also contributed to advancing research in image processing techniques.

I led the development of an administrative invoice management system to address significant delays in invoice processing that extended up to two years. This role required me to be a crucial part of a seven-member team working within a V-cycle project framework. My responsibilities included: • Drafting comprehensive technical documents, including software requirements, specifications, and detailed designs. • Employing systemic modelling with MERISE to structure the software development process. • Implementing the database in Oracle 10g and MS-Access, and developing the Human-Machine Interface (HMI). • Conducting user training to ensure smooth adoption and usability of the system. The technical tools and languages I utilized encompassed MERISE for systemic modelling, Oracle 10g and MS-Access for the relational database management system (RDBMS), Visual Basic and Visual C++ with MFC for programming, Visual Studio as the integrated development environment (IDE), and Crystal Report for reporting. The outcome of my work was transformative for AES-Sonel: • The administrative invoice management software was successfully implemented, streamlining the process. • The time required to process invoices was reduced by 80%, significantly improving operational efficiency. • The software effectively eliminated the risk of losing invoices and removed the potential for misappropriation of funds, enhancing financial security and accountability within the company. This achievement demonstrated my ability to lead and execute a complex software development project that delivered tangible improvements in administrative and financial operations.
