Industrial context: CONTECS Engineering Services GmbH main product, SIMDRIVE 3D, is a worldwide unique simulation platform, merging the most important methods for the predictive dynamic analysis of power transmission systems in time and frequency domain. The Structure module allows the integration of structural mechanics into the SIMDRIVE3D environment. It enables the powerful functionality of combining stresses with real time results of the MBS-Simulation in order to determine the coefficient of safety and the weakest point in the structure. The parametric web and geometry optimization delivers a vastly enhanced development process. With the possibility of creating BEM meshes, it features a swift calculation of inertia tensors of various elements. By linking the BEM Structure to a MBS model, the dynamic stress behavior can be determined with different calculation approaches. Tasks performed : – Development of an automatic, two-dimensional finite element mesh generator using quadrilateral elements and Bezier curve boundary definition. – Global optimization of mesh quality: Connectivity optimization, global point placement, Individual point placement. – BEM (boundary element method), FEM (finite element method) simulation

Context: Leachate recirculation is a key process in municipal solid waste landfills functioning as bioreactors because it aims at increasing the moisture content to optimize the waste biodegradation. Given that liquid flows exhibit a complex behaviour in very heterogeneous porous media, in situ monitoring methods are required to assess horizontal leachate injection system. In this contecs we study a prompt geophysical investigation of the Frequency Domain Electromagnetic Method (FDEM) for measuring changes in the electrical conductivity of the waste deposit cell induced by the variation of water content during leachate injection. Tasks performed: – FEM (finite element method) simulation. – CAD prototype and realization. – Experimental measurement.
